Very conveniently situated right in the middle of Hornchurch High Street. Very pleasant inside, very welcoming and the music system is not too intrusive. Nice. Would recommend the steak & ale pie with either chips or side salad. Very pleasant and helpful staff. I would say that Hornchurch town is blessed to have this traditional pub right on its doorstep and right next to Sainsburys. ROD UK.
Nice pub, but frustrating rules if with a child. Only pop in once every other week for half an hour with daughter whilst son is at coding - whether we stay depends on random rules - sometimes we must be out by 6, sometimes we must order a packet of crisps to count as food, sometimes we must have food and sit outside, which at this time of year is more or less telling us we aren't welcome.
Busy pub. Nice selection of drinks and seating. Outdoor bar area and seating. No parking at the pub you will need to park locally or in one of the car parks if visiting. Access for everyone. Friendly staff. Plenty of TVs for live sport. I didn't spend long there but what
Was served a flat pint of Strongbow, so decided, maybe it was a bad pint and get another pint to even it out, but it was the same...flat! So my missus bought a BOTTLE of Magners to liven up my flat pint, and the manager was trying to charge the extra because it was a bottle.....but no refund on the flat pint, we won't be going back. Good food, shame about the acting manager being clueless.
It's a pub I've been using on and of for over 50 years and it's still a place full of life good food, music on certain days, great bar staff. If Im in Hornchurch and fancy a coffee then I go to the Firkin why go anywhere else to be over charged when the Firkin does great coffee. I like it and recommend it

Where do i start! my favourite place to spend a friday & saturday! lost my bracelet last-night so dm’d them on instagram. sandy the boss swiftly replied and told me she had found it. she truly is the most iconic woman on the hornchurch ‘strip’! best pub for miles!
the fatling pub not only has live music on Friday and Saturdays that cater to us older folk but they also have a huge audience outside who listen to there more current music and cool DJ'S in the summer. This pub is the ABSOLUTE hub of Hornchurch and frankly the go to place in Essex and surrounding areas, its a must try, huge crowds of dancing people and elite vibes throughout. Well managed and all the staff helpful and friendly and a great selection of drinks. Overall a must do pub and is the best one I've seen in years. amazing work guys.
Invited my son and partner out for a meal, came ti the Firkin afterwards, Wow what a fantastic night we had lots of music, dancing and laughter. Can't wait to visit in the week with my husband for lunch which we do quite often, it is so well run with pleasant staff nice surrounding, lovely food etc.
Fantastic pub and staff. A real mix of ages and a great atmosphere. A well run pub and always my first choice when having a night out in Hornchurch.
