I visited with my 4 and 1 year old boys and the lovely volunteers did a great job of engaging my eldest in all things aviation. We had a brilliant time and was lucky enough to sit in the cockpit of one of the helicopters and a personal highlight for me was sitting in the iconic Harrier Jump Jet. Will visit again to spend more time to learn about the aircraft and try out the simulators. Well worth a visit and an opportunity to see so much in such a small museum.
There’s a new “the Fast Lightning Simulator”to play with, which was more fun than the older simulators I've tried before. Plus, there were volunteers guiding you throughout, from takeoff to landing, so you didn't just wildly fly around without a clue. During the takeoff in the east direction, you pass by landmarks like the River Thames, Big Ben, and the Tower of London. It provided a greater sense of realism and immersion compared to previous simulators where you just flew over vast stretches of land and ocean!
For a free to enter museum we had an excellent experience. Plenty of curators to tell you about some of the exhibits too. I didn't get to use the cafe but there is one. You can spend an hour or a few it's up to you as it's large but not huge. Packed with stuff and interest.
We organised a trip to the FAST museum for our Brownie pack and it was AMAZING. I must confess that I was worried the girls would be bored but it couldn't have been further from boring! The volunteers made the content exciting and engaging. There was local history as well as a good amount of I fo on women in aviation - perfect for our audience! The tour was completely hands-on and we were all made to feel immersed in the experience. Thank you so much.
A small but well run museum with a number of very knowledgeable volunteers. Free to enter but worth a donation. You can sit in some of the aircraft and there are several simulators to have a go on. Well worth a trip for a few hours at the weekend. There is a nice shop and a cafe, although we didn't use the latter.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wonderful experience with knowledgeable and friendly volunteers working there. Good for all the family with lots to see and do. Makes for a great immersive day out. Also it was so greatly appreciated to not only see dedication towards my Great Grandfather but also to have the staff prepare the book of remembrance to the right page and have it displayed for us. Was not only a special visit for our family but was entertaining for the whole family.
Brilliant museum well worth a visit. Lots to see here. We spent 4 hours here and could easily of spent longer here. Little cafe upstairs serving hot and cold drinks also pre packed cakes and biscuits. Free entry to museum with donations if you wish. Good gift shop on site.
Visited the museum with a friend it was amazing. You don’t have to have a big interest in aircraft to enjoy this place. The volunteers who work there are great very enthusiastic answer any questions or discuss anything about how the museum operates. Apart from the aircraft on display on the outside, there is a large range of exhibits inside, with 3 different flight simulators available for anyone to have a go under the instructions of very good experts in this field. If you are ever in the area the Farnborough Air Museum is a must to visit, there are no hidden charges just a voluntary donation.
I won't give this place a negative review just because it isn't an interest of mine whatsoever. I went along with family, some of whom are interested in the airforce. If it's of interest to you, then you won't be disappointed at all. Plenty of beautiful memorabilia on display, and it's noticeable that all the staff there, this is their passion. Very thoughtful, knowledgeable, and polite. They also have flight simulators, where you can take control of the late concorde. The place is very well preserved and looked after. It was a bore for me, but honestly, if planes and the RAF are your thing, then it's definitely worth the visit. There was no entry fee, but I was more than happy to place a donation.
Such passionate volunteers and fascinating exhibits. The simulators in particular are incredible! Our group included ages 6 to 60+ and everyone enjoyed it!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
