Went climbing with the kids—really well set up. You can watch them from the café, which is super convenient. The kids loved it! There are lots of fun and challenging climbs for all levels. Great for beginners and more experienced climbers alike.
Since moving my training over from one of the big-name 24-hour gyms to Fareham Leisure Centre, I can honestly say my workouts have gone up a level. There’s a big difference between simply “going to the gym” and actually enjoying the gym, and Fareham has nailed that distinction.nThe atmosphere here is leagues better than the commercial chains – no endless rows of people glued to their phones on machines. Instead, it feels like a place where people genuinely want to train, progress, and support a positive environment.nI’ll admit, I haven’t dipped my toes into the swimming pool yet, or braved the sauna and steam room though they’re definitely on my to-do list, but it’s reassuring knowing those facilities are there waiting for when I fancy a change of pace.nYes, it means a 20-minute drive rather than a 10-minute stroll to my old gym, but the trade-off has been completely worth it. Better training, better atmosphere, and overall a far more enjoyable experience.nAll in all, I’m much happier at Fareham Leisure Centre – even if my car now gets more exercise than my legs on rest days.
The facilities are okay, there's always the usual concerns that these facilities have of xyz not working or being smelly. Overall it's acceptable. I do think the current system is run is a little odd but works alright when you understand. If you are a disabled user you may encounter some issues with the facilities. Firstly a lot of users and parents use the disabled parking as a pick up zone making it very difficult to park at certain times and if you're attending a class with a firm start time this may cause a bit of frustration, the scan entry is for turnstile entry so if you require the gate you may encounter a wait if the reception staff are busy, there are some areas of significant uneven flooring and obstructions you wouldn't expect, in the late evening there isn't always a receptionist at the desk and the gate isn't always open so this can cause you to be trapped until someone returns. You must bring your radar key here to use some changing places.
Booked a climbing session for my four year old son today. Freya was on duty and was excellent! It was my son’s first time climbing and she encouraged him and made him feel safe and calm, which meant he really enjoyed the experience. She even gave him a little gift at the end of the session. Freya is a credit to the centre!
Centre itself is great.nnChildren's swimming lessons have been awful, my 5 year old could swim a width before starting when we did sessions with him now he has moved to independents at this facility he had regressed.nnNot sufficient time given their groups are far too big for any progress to be made in a reasonable time frame. Instructors are good but given impossible group sizes sometimes 9/10 in a 30 mind session they barely get a minute or two of instruction. Have been trying for 5 MONTHS to arrange some one to one sessions, got through after a few weeks after starting to contact in January and after a lot of chasing I got a call on March, agreed provisional times for 121 over Christmas after holidays then never got a call back to confirm. I have been chasing ever since and it's been escalated to general manager, still with no response. Why keep pushing and advertising 121 if you aren't going to deliver??nnI don't recommend swimming lessons until child is in stage 3 and in the main pool, baby classes and stage 1/2 in kids pool where they can stand up just leads to kids mucking around and playing as they push large classes for profit over quality teaching.
