I haven't had a good experience with this dentistry since I was a small child. After the dentist I used to see left when I was very young, I've never had one who made me feel very relaxed, which has unfortunately meant I've now developed anxiety when needing dental work as a result. They do get the job done and relatively quickly as well (if it's an emergency) but that's about all I can say. My most recent visit was the last straw for me though, and has resulted in me now looking elsewhere for my dental care. I came complaining of a crack in my tooth, it wasn't causing any pain but I wasn't really up for letting it get worse, so off I went. Since it was classed as an emergency by reception staff, I had the appointment with the next dentist that was free instead of my regular one, but I wasn't too fussed about that as I had never had great experiences with them. When I went in, she couldn't see anything wrong with any of my teeth, so did an x-ray to check. She came back and told me I needed four fillings! I was astonished, and she got up the x-ray to show me, asking me if I could see the dark spots (which were the cavities). Admittedly, on two of the right back teeth, there were fairly large dark spots, but I was with a relative (due to me being nervous) and we both agreed we couldn't see anything on the other two, but we went along with it anyway as she's the professional. Surprisingly, she said the one with the crack was fine. I got an appointment the following week, I had one done in a half an hour slot, and the rest in an hour slot the next day, and this is when the issues began to arise. I'm a very nervous patient when it comes to actual procedures, partially due to bad experience and partially because I hate needles. I did express this to the dentist, who basically just told me she'd never had an issue with giving people injections and that if I needed her to stop to just give her a thumbs down. I agreed, however during the procedure (after the anaesthetic and well into her drilling away) I could feel what was happening more than I remembered the last time I had a filling, and then I got a sharp pain in my tooth, so I quickly did the signal and she asked what was wrong. When I told her I could feel it and it actually hurt, she completely dismissed it! She told me there wasn't long left so to just suck it up basically, which isn't at all what you want to hear as a nervous patient. After a further ten minutes of pain and discomfort, she finally finished. Needless to say, I wasn't jumping for joy the next day when I had to go back for the rest, but it had to be done. This time, the same thing happened. Shortly after she began drilling, I started getting shooting pains in the tooth she was working on, but this time I began jolting every time it happened, which forced her to take notice this time. Since she had three teeth to do, she couldn't have me jumping every time I got a pain on my tooth, so she gave me more anaesthetic. After that, it was much better, and turns out it just takes more than the regular amount of anesthesia to numb my mouth, but I was not impressed it had been dismissed when I mentioned it the first time, as if I was just imagining it and being a drama queen. Besides that, they didn't really tell me what they were doing when I'd asked her to keep me in the know, and generally her tone with me just seemed impatient and unhappy. Fast forward to now, I'm now beginning to get pain on the tooth that I originally went for that she said was fine, and it still looks and feels cracked to me. I've also had problems with three of the fillings she did. One has been very sensitive to pressure since she did it, so I suspect it's probably too high, another has been catching on my cheek since as it seems to stick out more than the rest of the tooth, and today the other filling she did has cracked away with some of the tooth, and revealed a cavity underneath what she'd filled. I've booked an appointment elsewhere for this now, her lack of compassion for me as a nervous patient has turned me right off returning.

My recent appointment with this surgery has shown that staff of this surgery are friendly, accommodating, and make every effort to cater for patience needs. Both my daughter and I rate this surgery as top quality excellent. Upon my recommendation, my daughter finally registered with this surgery, the dentist she has assigned to had found that much of the work that she had done to her teeth by another surgery was totally unnecessary (not to mention pricey). She provided my daughter with the correct diagnosis and treatment, that her teeth are much much better! She can now crunch all of her foods including her chicken bones! So citizens if you are thinking of attending this surgery, rest assured you would receive the best treatment from any of the dentists at the surgery, as they are ALL very good (I have had access to them in times of emergency when my own dentist was unavailable). This blog is from someone who had a terrible fear of dentist ............. my family is safe with this surgery that I would not change it.
