We buried my mother here in Jan 2016, in a beautiful wool coffin. The site is on the side of a hill and has developed into a lovely woodland. The owner is determined to retain the natural habitat and is diligent in ensuring there is nothing is left that is not native or natural to the area and it must be able to rot down. Make sure to read and follow the requirements, which ensure the protection of the ground and site. You can plant appropriately, but without regular care, the plants are unlikely to survive, unless they are suited to that environment. It is peaceful apart from an occasional ruckus from the neighbouring geese and turkeys. We had a memorial ‘service’ in Leafield Village Hall, where we also had the wake, so those who did not wish to come to the internment, were able to wait comfortably - the Fox pub is also not far away, check opening hours. There is now a shepherds hut type shelter at the site, no toilets. We have a wood tablet style memorial which needs oiling natural, plant based twice a year, to give it some longevity, otherwise it would soon deteriorate, become illegible or crack. I am grateful to have found somewhere special where she has returned back to nature and where her life is acknowledged and can be remembered.
