So I am an exclusive saver and during my search for a service that would provide a reasonable return on my savings, I found Fairshare, which unfortunately has the lowest dividend on savings, when compared to their only other competition in the area. My gripe here, is that before applying, Fairshare offered no information for members wanting to exclusively save with them. I had to open an account to find out the dividend, with the intention of closing the account should the dividend prove unacceptable. That seemed to be the only way as there wasn't anything to indicate what it was before applying. They had plenty of information on loan products they offered. Yet absolutely nothing on the dividend rate they offered if you save with them. The dividend on savings up to the 30th September 2021 was 0.75%. Which feels fairly paltry when you consider that at the time, other banks were providing easy access savings at around the same rate as this. So far I have kept the account active as everything seems to match in terms of rates. The £5 membership fee seems a bit cruel on somebody just wanting to save with you. Loan products, Yes I would get the fee... But savings, no. You would have to earn more than £5 with the dividend to make the account worth it. For those who switch to higher interest rates with other providers as they become available, this may not be for you. Your competition doesn't charge a fee on savers... So why do you?
Avoid like a plague! Very absolutely poor customer service! Avoid them!
