This place is absolutely great. Way better than you’d expect for the price, and a hostel. Exceptional Geordie hospitality from Mark, who was really friendly and helpful. Good bar, clean room, and the double bed was very comfortable I have a very bad back. I take ear plugs wherever I travel, but they don’t block out all noise and it wasn’t too bad.
The whole hotel was brilliant and inviting, the decor of the rooms being modern and the bar area a more retro vibe, which was a nice contrast with how the building was laid out. From being off the main road, it was pretty quiet traffic-wise with also being near a highway. Our stay was really convenient and brilliant on value for money with near £200 for two nights and being so near the centre of Newcastle. Definitely worth the money and would stay again 100% Rooms: The rooms were nice for the value of our stay, the double bed was nice and the bunk bed was also good from word of our friend who travelled with us. The bathroom was a bit claustrophobic for me, and the shower was a bit of a hassle to figure out at first, but it was convenient. The space was nice as well for getting ready, plenty of room for our bags. The radiator in the room worked surprisingly well! Walkability: The places and activities we did were as little as 5 to 10 minutes away from the hotel, so it was a perfect location for us. Food & drinks: The breakfast is the only thing we did, and it was pretty well and nice. Light and the help-yourself system was good for pending your appetite and for about a fiver each person it was pretty well off! Noteworthy details: The staff were lovely and attentive, friendly, and inviting from the get-go. The one concern they raised they made sure it was sorted by the end of the day, and it assured us well, and it didn't make us feel ignored.
Great hotel. Clean rooms and comfy beds. The bar downstairs served food 12pm-9pm and happy hour was 4pm-8pm. Great deals on happy hour 2 for £10.00 cocktails, £3.00 pints and £15.00 for a bottle of prosecco. Cocktails amazing. Staff happy to help if needed anything. Lounge area with bean bags was great to chill out in after check out. Would definitely visit again.
4 stars out of 5 as I've never used the rooms in this venue so I can't comment on them. Great customer service, clean and maintained toilets and a good selection of music playing throughout the bar area. The Bao buns and selection of sides are delicious and well worth the money, always hot and fresh with plenty of fillings. The bar has a good selection of drinks and there's a decent happy hour 16:00-20:00 on a daily basis. Sport on TV and a pool table available. Definitely worth calling in when you're in the city centre
Rooms were brilliant, the only downside was that we were travelling as 2 adults and a minor but the bed for the child was just inconvenient being a bunk bed all beds were extremely comfy though! The bathroom was really nice, shower took a bit of time to work out but we got there in the end . Everything functioned perfectly almost, including nightlights next to each bed. The TV unfortunately didn’t work, but that didn’t matter as we had our own entertainment I think it was an issue with the remote in room 111. The service was lovely! Everyone was kind and respectful as-well as everything being explained in perfectly clear detail. The only issue was guests being loud past 11pm but when we complained we were told that the night audits will do extra patrols , we experienced no noise issues after that. Safety: Doors don’t open unless you had a key card as-well as being able to lock from the inside, you can also lock the bathroom. The door into the actual building has two entrances one through the cafe/bar and those get locked around 11, the other entrance is open 24/7. You can take the elevator up floors and they only work if you can scan your key card first and there are also stairs. Walkability: Every event we needed to get to was within a 10 minute walking range, extremely convenient! Noteworthy details: Service was the best I could wish for! One of our key cards wasn’t allowing us access to the elevator, so they offered to re cut it for us which we did take them upon and we experienced no issues after! The service was friendly, cordial, respectful, and easy to talk to. We were also told that if we experienced issues we could ring the number they gave us, they also have a chat bot to message if we didn’t feel comfortable calling.
We had a private room which was absolutely perfect for what we needed! Stayed here for my birthday and mark and Meg made it extra special! From a happy birthday welcome to a birthday drink! Mark is definitely a 5* host! Very friendly and welcoming! Meg was lovely and they both couldn’t do enough for us! Would definitely recommendRooms: 5/5
A really pleasant suprise when arriving. We were a little dubious as the price was so cheap. We got a private room for 4 and it was so good! Very clean and the beds were super comfy! The bathroom is very small but that wasn’t a problem for us. You are so close to the Centre of Newcastle and so close to everything. Really happy with our stay here. We also found it to be quiet too which is a bonus!
Very affordable and comfortable hotel in the centre of newcastle. Shampoo, conditioner and soap were provided. Great stay! My only comment was that some of the fire doors in the corridors slammed very loudly, which woke me up multiple times and were so loud they shaked my bed - perhaps the soft closing mechanisms need to be checked? Apart from that it was a great stay, and will likely be back!
Was a nice hostel for a short stay. Shower was a little small and because it was a plastic moulding when you went in to get changed if someone had a shower before hand then you was get wet feet. Also they charger 3 pound for a towelRooms: 4/5
The rooms are clean but very bare. Really gives off prison vibes. I don't understand why the bathroom is encased in a fiberglass shell. The only plus side is you can wash your feet in the shower while sitting on the toilet. The TV wouldn't find any TV channels even after connecting it to the WiFi. Our room didn't have a kettle in it. Only on check out was we told that kettles are kept behind reception. I'm not sure how you are expected to carry the kettle, cups, coffee, sugar and milk pods back up to your room without dropping something. Staff are friendly. No onsite parking but there is a NCP carpark only a short walk away.
