I used this carpark to visit the Piece Hall, for which it is very conveniently situated.nnI was sent to the overflow area, which is decently tarmacced. It is badly lined, with markings being extremely faded. Some of the spaces are too short for a normal car and the layout is not obvious when you arrive, leading to most cars going down the aisles in the wrong direction the spaces are slanted, so this is important there must be quite a loss of usable spaces due to the difficulty people have understanding they space layout and the odd sizes of some of the spaces.nnThere is one machine serving this area. The queue to use it was half an hour long see picture. The machine takes cash or card. Thee is no APP option to take some load off the machine.nnThe machine is designed with an awkward way to use it and a very slow response to buttons, which leads to errors being made when input. It also takes a long time for the card reader to respond to payment. This all means the machine has woeful throughput as it takes too long for each person to pay. Hence the 30 minute queue. In the pouring rain.nnThe car park needs repainting, with some spaces re-sized. It needs arrows and signs showing the correct way in and out. It needs extra machines or an app service and machines with less counter intuitive operation.nnThere is also no path past the Eureka building meaning you have to cross the road, or walk-in the road.nnJust a nightmare caused by some poor design decisions. Which is ironic.
Completely nuts that there is no remote payment options. This is the *shortest* queue at 11 on a Saturday.

You effectively can buy 12 hours parking for the price of 8, which is great. But if I only want 6 hours it's a bit of a pain, as there's no middle ground. I still find the layout of the parking spaces / one way rows a bit odd too. But its a big car park and there's always been a space for us.
Good clean car park with plenty of spaces. Shame you are charged for visiting the education facilities.
