I hired an extra-large van, but received a call saying only a large van was available. They offered to extend the rental period due to the price difference and even threw in a free extra driver.nnI also purchased the £35 protection cover, and we had to point out existing damage for them to note down. Upon returning the van, a staff member immediately pointed out some minor damage, which was barely noticeable unless you were looking for it. I was then told that my deposit and an additional £250 would be taken for repairs—absolutely outrageous!nnTo make matters worse, after reviewing the invoice, it turns out we were charged for the extra driver as well, despite being told it was free.nnThe staff were rude and unprofessional. The manager even joked about the situation while we were inspecting the damage, and another employee made a sarcastic comment about how lucky I was to have taken out the protection cover.nnI strongly advise against hiring from this company. Don’t be fooled by their reputation—this experience was a complete scam.
I just rented a car from Enterprise Stroud and wanted to say what amazing service they provide. I had just had news of a bereavement and they did everything possible to help with my booking. Adam is a great manager, super helpful and did everything possible to help including arranging for me to be picked up and dropped off at home which really sets Enterprise apart. Thanks also to Seren who dropped me at home even when there was a lot going on.nI highly recommend this Enterprise beach, you won’t find better service anywhere else.
From the start of the rental, to the several extensions, to the return of the vehicle, everything was outstanding. The staff was exceptional, courteous and most professional. They were very flexible when requested to extend on 3 different occasions. The vehicle was excellent and economical.nI would not hesitate to hire from this enterprise again . Superb from beginning to end. Kudos all around.
Avoid this depot at all costs. Only one employee presents on both visits. Adam was rude and completely incompetent having to leave the office twice to make phone calls to his manager for guidance. I was told I couldn’t rent a vehicle because I didn’t have a credit card on me for the deposit. After waiting anxiously for 15 minutes, suddenly my debit card was fine for a deposit. Then was told my security details didn’t check out, again after another 15 minute wait and texts back and forth with manager Mark, Adam decided this was all fine. Took the car, within 2 miles noticed some smudging on the windscreen from a previous repair, I phoned Mark to discuss this and he blamed me. Asked “do you know how many people drive the cars away and damage them, only to phone and say they were there before” after the rude customer service I asked to speak to the area manager in which I was told “no I won’t let you speak to him because I know you’re going to complain about me” after this, I now no longer felt happy in this particular vehicle and I returned the vehicle the next day. Having driven 22 miles home and back - mostly a38 apon returning the vehicle, Adam greeted me with a sarcastic tone and told me “I know you put a complaint about me into my boss” he then went outside to look over the vehicle. He went straight to one of the tyres and began taking photographs immediately. He called me out of the office to “you need to come and see this damage YOU’VE done” after eventually spotting the graze on the tyre he was referring to, you could see that this wasn’t new in any way shape or form. We went back and forth arguing over this for a long time, Adam told me it was my fault for not taking photos and checking the car over more thoroughly before I drove it away because then I could’ve proved it was already there. I explained that I wasn’t buying the vehicle and I shouldn’t have to take photos or do a full inspection when hiring a car from what should be a reputable hire company. Luckily, my partner had arrived by this point. Adam changed his intimidating tone with me immediately. My partner agreed with me that the graze was definitely old and that it was impossible that on a 99% A38 journey that I could’ve curbed it anywhere. Adam by this point became very flustered and started back tracking, I think he was embarrassed to be caught out lying. He began explaining that all vehicles under go a 25 point check when they are given back. My partner asked if we could see the 25 point check from when it was last rented and low and behold in June 2024 it was recorded to have windscreen damage. The very same windscreen damage I had phoned to report with the manager and was accused of doing!! I have since received my deposit back, a mountain of apology emails, texts and WhatsApp’s from various people and a very strange phone call from Adam himself, pretending to be somebody else until I called him out as I recognised his voice. Overall an extremely stressful and upsetting experience for a 6 month pregnant lady! sexist, sarcastic attitude from staff. They’ve also sent me an invoice of £163 for tyre damage to a Honda jazz. I assume the amount is exaggerated so they can perhaps get the windscreen damage from last year repaired at my cost too! Avoid these cowboys at all costs. There’s a reason they’ve got the reputation that they have!
It has been a pleasure to hire a car from Enterprise Car & Van Hire - Stroud. The staff/agents are always friendly, polite, very professional, a joy to deal with them. The cars I rented had exceeded my expectations, each time the cars are brand new or like brand new, in top condition, latest model/s, a joy to drive them. Prices are reasonable, not overpriced.
