Unfortunately my experience mirrors a lot of similar 1-star reviews on here. I took my Look KX carbon frame to have it resprayed back in Easter 2023. At this point I paid 50% of the quote for the work. Since then I have received only one email at new year despite ringing and emailing every week or two. I’m at a loss for what to do. Towards the end of this winter I even drove over to Shipley only to be told with a straight face that it would “only be a couple of weeks”  I have no idea what to do. I’m a few hundred pounds and a bike frame down. At this point all I want is my frame back but cannot get any calls or emails answered.  Starting to feel like small claims court is my only option. Please get in touch with me, I’m not even bothered about the work at this stage, I just want my bike frame back.  An update on this: 15/7/2024  After submitting a claim through small claims court I have my frame back with the work completed. The work is completed to a very high standard and I am very pleased with it.  It is a real shame that the communication was so challenging and the work took so long. As the quality of the work and Paul's commitment to his work in terms of its quality is unquestionable.

Paul at Ellis Briggs carried out a lovely repair on my vintage frame, plus was helpful in explaining exactly what needed to be done in advance. He was also open in noting that illness had generated a backlog of work for him and that consequently, things could take longer than usual. The work did indeed extend by a couple of weeks, but despite this, he still went out of his way to get the frame back to me in time for an event deadline I had.

Hi Paul - looks like you've responded to others on here recently, so no other choice but to post a review to get your attention.  As ever, I hope all's well with you and yours.  Almost 6 weeks ago I e-mailed to ask after the frame of mine you'd sent to the painters "just before xmas" 2023. I've heard nothing from you since.  Nor from the 5 e-mails before it dating back to March. Or the 2 calls and voicemail I left 7 weeks ago.  We're nearly 12 weeks on since your post about illness and resumption of work.  Can you please help me understand how a third-party-painted frame due back at yours February 2024 remains unaccounted for almost mid-July?  There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation - if so, I'm eager to hear it.  I'm becoming very concerned indeed. Please respond with clarification of the situation.

Super happy with the respray I had done on my carbon frame. Paul is such a great guy in communicating right from the beginning and very open to the bespoke work that I wanted. Price was the best around after many phone calls to other painters/frame builders and such a super finish to the pearl white that I had gone for. I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to refresh their equipment. Thanks Paul for your help.

I sent my prized 1985 Peugeot Perthus 753 Reynolds Frame to Paul in July 23 to have resprayed. I was due to have it returned by the end of Sept however these are the messages I got back from Paul since then and now nothing. Note the one about being the "custodian":  24 Oct 23 Apologies for not getting back to you earlier as I have been off work. However, your frame is finished. I have packed it up and I'll write up your invoice tomorrow. Kind Regards Paul Gibson 30 Oct 23 Your frame is all packed up now. One of the decals for your Peugeot had a fault in the printing which we didn't notice until the clear coat was applied.  I've ordered a replacement decal set and we'll redo the decals as soon as they arrive in the next few days. I'll be in touch as soon as we have them applied and the new clearcoat done. Kind Regards Paul 4 Jan 24 I just wanted to email you and apologise for the delay with your Peugeot. This email is an apology for falling below the standard expected at Ellis-Briggs.  Unfortunately I have a tendency to overestimate what I can accomplish each week and this has led to a backlog.  In the last few months of 2023 I was completely burnt out from work 80 hours a week on top of my family commitments. However over the Christmas holidays I have been working behind the scenes to clear my backlog, so I will now turn my attention to making sure your project is completed ASAP. I've worked at Ellis-Briggs my entire working life, it is not just a business for me.  I consider myself a custodian.  Like most of the bike industry it's not a highly paid endeavour but more of a passion project.  I really do love my work. Going forward into 2024 I'm looking to take on another member of staff, to deal with the admin side of the business, as it's taking me away from where I am most needed in the business. Unfortunately I can't collect it until the following week as my transport is on holiday and I am teaching all next week. So either way I can either ask them to stop what they are doing with your frame and leave it as is or I can leave them to finish it.  Your call. If you choose to have all work stop, I can refund you less the cost of the frame alterations which have already been carried out.  If you choose to let them carry on, there will be no further cost as I will do the whole job for the deposit amount. Either way, I won't be able to post the frame until the end of week beginning 22nd January. Kind Regards Paul  After trying to contact him numerous times via email and phone, I have finally given up and accepting the fact that I am not getting my frame back. I am now going through the small claims court to try and get my deposit back and the cost of a vintage frame.

Paul did a great job for me fixing a bashed BB shell and was happy and confident to take it on. Even fixed it for me over a weekend, while I was up at Velo Retro. Super service all round.

The quality of work was outstanding, all the logos were placed perfectly and the colours I chose were not standard and they were hit spot on. Would definitely use again. I was not in a hurry but if you want a top quality job it is worth the waiting.

I have received fantastic service on several occasions. A proper 'old school' bike repair shop with years of experience behind it, including frame repairs and building.

Friendly, professional and expert. My Bob Jackson bike frame needed attention, and I couldn't find necessary skillset in local bike shops; but I'm happy to report Ellis Briggs came to my rescue promptly and at very reasonable cost, thanks Paul!
