Agree with Jean Doyle about Bluebell ward. My wife was just left to sit even though she needed to walk and exercise regularly to get her mobility back. I had to prompt staff to get them to do something with her. Too often she was left sitting so her leg swelled up without anyone noticing. Only towards the end of her stay was a footstool provided to elevate her leg when sitting. The nursing staff are great but the physio support we were led to believe she would receive by the lead physio on the acute surgery ward at the Countess of Chester was non-existent. If management sorted this out patients could be discharged sooner freeing up beds.
The physiotherapist named Paddy, is absolutely fantastic. Friendly & lovely. He looked after my mum today, kept her at ease, made sure there wasn’t anything sinister going on & made sure all referrals were completed before we left. Really grateful for his help & knowledge. Went for consultation. Car park was stowed out, made welcome at reception 45 minutes delay in appointment but unfortunately that seems to be the case these days. Consultant did thorough examination and explained in detail the way forward. Area in hospital needs a bit of redecorating.
Not enough physiotherapists on Bluebell ward, the patients are just left doing nothing and not walking or exercising in any way to get them mobile again , it’s supposed to be a rehabilitation centre! It’s not the nursing staff that are at fault it’s the staffing levels, they certainly need more physios!
Attended for an MRI 28/1/26 What lovely staff. The receptionist, nurses and the MRI staff. Couldn’t fault them
