We have just returned from a long weekend away at The Elephant Inn. Unfortunately it is not operating as a pub at the moment but that only enhanced the experience as we had the use of the wonderful gardens and the magnificent views from it. The breakfasts that we had were absolutely magnificent and I could not remember ever having such fine food. We did not eat there in the evening which was unfortunate as another guest, who was staying in one of the other rooms, mentioned to us just how good it was. The room we had was the ground floor one which had the patio. It was big, clean and tidy as well as having everything else you require. Having read earlier reviews some of which mentioned a “ Grump Landlord “ I was apprehensive. I needn’t have been as I found both of the owners very approachable and very helpful. I would certainly recommend a stay and we are already trying to organise another visit
Excellent rooms, dinner and breakfast. Very friendly. Made us and our dog very welcome. Would definitely recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Wonderful room, lovely facilities. The food was sensational, very relaxing with beautifully tended gardens. Will definitely return.Rooms: 5/5
Nice but fairly average food for an above average price £15-18 mains but of course this isn't the entire menu. Lovely and friendly staff but with a slight issue of missing one of the orders from our table of seven, which they were apologetic for. A warm and enjoyable decor, feels like a nice country pub.
Update : July 2021 As I understand it this Pub has now CLOSED. Such a shame. Beautiful setting with a lovely garden especially on a sunny day. They're a bit over zealous in their attitude towards children though with numerous signs warning children to behave and not to enter certain areas of the beer garden. Not the most welcoming of staff either but then maybe it had simply been a long bank holiday weekend for them all.
2 family's met on a glorious summer's day for lunch before setting off for a walk. The food was good, the service excellent, the venue superb. We are outside in the lovely garden so I can't really comment on the inside of the pub, the bar area seemed pleasant and quite traditional.
Beautiful garden and views . Inspirational young people. We have been many times over the years for a drink and light lunch after a walk in the surrounding countryside. Fabulous location and the young people working there are remarkably friendly and all dog lovers. Recommended.
We had a meal here last night. A lovely old pub with roaring fire. The food was exceptionally good. It was on a par with the very best in the area. A good varied menu. Will be back soon.
Beautiful old Inn with a cozy log fire and a great food and drink selection. The food is beautifully presented and tastes fantastic, with a large selection of Gin and real ales. It is child friendly, offering smaller portions of all meals. There is ample free parking provided.
This place has the warmest of welcomes. The garden is stunning and the ale is fantastic. I didn't eat, but saw some lovely looking food coming out of the kitchen. Recommend highly.
