Good beer selection and fairly lively pub. Not cheap, but inline with surrounding places. Worth going to for a drink or two on Friday.
Lovely pub upstairs. Great cocktails downstairs. Plus a light up dance floor!
Met some friends here who seem to like this place for some reason. It has a pub feel, with cool decor. They have food, we tried several appetizers, none of which were particularly good. The lamb sliders were decent, the other sliders were not great. The bar service was very slow, although this place wasn't full at all I waited no less than 10 minutes for each beer.
Fantastic place in Shoreditch, upstairs is more of a pub atmosphere where they serve ale and beers. Downstairs is where the magic is, an 80s style light panels on the dance floor and most importantly cocktails. The music downstairs was good and not to loud so one didn't have to shout to speak with friends. Recommended if you're in the area.
Despite being in 'trendy' Shoreditch, the land of the pretend people, , this is a great little basement bar with a funky dance floor and decent music to rock out to. Gets lively as the evening goes on. Friendly atmosphere. OK drink prices. Would definitely go again for a fun night out.
This is what I really don't like in a pub. There is nothing wrong with it in particular but it has no real appeal. It's big and open but it's that openness that kills any atmosphere that might be present. The drinks are the kind you'll find in every other bar and are equally normally priced. When it's quiet it feels like you're in a library and when it's busy it just makes you want to be somewhere better. If you're in a big party and need a place to accommodate you then this will bar will do that, but I would advice you walk a little bit further and you'll find something a lot better.
Spacious modern pub. Lots of seating, but usually very crowded in the evening. A good selection of beers. Friendly staff, but often somewhat chaotic service. Good atmosphere. As well as the name it has the look of a building that was once an electricity showroom, back in the day before privatisation.
This is a strange place in it's second incarnation, Having been refitted in the early part of this century as a gleaming white cube, it has now been refurbished as an old fashioned boozer, with wood panelling and William morris style wallpaper. The pub itself is very much a reflection of the area, It has a late opening club/bar in the basement room which is open till the late hours, and on a Friday and Saturday it is often crammed to the gills. However this is a quite a good pub to hang out in for a days drinking, and on a warm sunny day they open the windows and you literally get the outside in and it's a great space. The revolving beer list is excellent and the staff are knowledgeable and approachable. My one complaint is the food and the prices of the food, the prices have recently gone up and the food quality hasn't gone up to match this, I used to really like the fish finger sandwiches that they did, but recently I have seen a definite drop off in quality.
Nice frontage, impressive size to the pub inside, and a fun little cocktail bar downstairs. It's just a shame that the drinks prices are a bit harsh. £5 for a standard pint of ale really isn't on. I know that they have a lot of light bulbs to pay for, but seriously...
There's just something about this place I love. From the wooden revolving entrance you know you're going to experience something different. Great juxtaposition between Victorian decor upstairs to the 70s disco dance floor if you follow the peacock downstairs... One note: this place has an unenviable but rightful reputation for some of the worst door staff in London. A lot of people cannot swallow their pride when challenged by security, but it'll be your loss. Be on your best behaviour at the door, then let loose and have great night inside!
