"Eastney Engine Houses comprise the Beam Engine and Gas Engine House, which were instrumental in helping Victorian Portsmouth manage its growing need for waste management. Though the Engine Houses no longer pump sewage, they remain open as a visitor attraction, to showcase the incredible engineering that went into their construction. The Engine Houses are open once a month for visitors, but please note the engines will not be in steam for the foreseeable future. Visit the website for full details on the Engine Houses and the next Open Day."
