In September 2022 we had a problem with the electrical system of our Opel Vivaro. So we went to the Opel listed service provider "Tustain Motors" to have the generator shortly checked. As it looked, the generator did not deliver enough power so that a control light came on. The arrogant and very unfriendly lady at the reception of the garage wanted to turn us away directly with the reference to the fact that there would be free appointments only in October again. But if you are just passing through and have to catch the ferry home in a few hours, this is not very helpful. After a longer discussion with the request to measure only shortly the voltage at the battery she spoke with a man in the next room but they did not have 5 minutes to take a quick look at the problem. We were told to try somewhere else and we were not helped! I have been to the UK many times and to Scotland but I have never experienced such unfriendliness and arrogance. We were in an emergency situation and they didn't have 5 minutes to look at the problem. Ultimately, they were able to help us in another garage and the error could be diagnosed in less than 5 minutes and we still reached the ferry in time. If this store also behaves with the local customers so it surprises me very much that they are not yet bankrupt!
After using this garage for a number of years, I will never use or recommend them again. I have a large wheelchair vehicle, and being local, it’s always been handy to use. However I kept saying to them for over 2 years my vehicle didn’t sound right, they would look at it, say it was fixed or it was fine and I’d get it back. This went on until a few months ago when my dashboard light up with warning signs. I managed to get home and called them. The manager came down to pick up my WAV, so not only seeing all the warning signs, would have heard what I can only describe as, sounding like the engine was going to explode. 18 faults showed up, no mention of the noise, and told us we were okay to drive it. Yes, it was okay to drive. My husband questioned this and the manager was not happy. Not only was he not happy but he refused to return calls and chose to just ignore me. After contacting Motability to see what they would say, I was told to contact RAC. To cut a long story short, I was told under no circumstances should I drive my vehicle, it was extremely dangerous, as the wheel baring was away and that is what the sound was. That amongst other issues, including brakes, that Haddington had supposedly fitted only a few months prior. Angry is an understatement at the way I have been treated by this garage. The only recommendation I would give, is to avoid at all costs. And yes I will be taking this matter further.
We had a nice bungalow which to be honest when walking up to front door looked. Asif it needed painted but we were pleasantly surprised it was really nice inside
I dealt with Steven, Generally staff speak volumes of the company as they are a team. I couldn't give them more than 5 stars which I would have done if I was able. Exceeded all expectations, totally honest about negatives rather than just going on about positives of the car. It was a distance buy and I had every confidence in all aspects thanks to excellent communication and attention to detail. Very personalised service. Really could not recommend highly enough.
Just bought an Astra Estate from these guys, this was a blind purchase with a security deposit paid and then a follow up video produced and emailed by Grant Ried, this almost sealed the deal until today I physically seen the car. Looking at second hand cars. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. No hard sell. A much more enjoyable experience than heading into Edinburgh.
Just traded in my wife's car, sales team of Grant and Mark, super friendly, nothing a problem, vehicle we bought was prepared to showroom condition, very fair trade in deal, and only a one day turnaround, we could in fact have driven it away later that day. It's a pleasant surprise to deal with nice people.
I have just purchased my second car from tustains Berwick. Super service from Brad, nothing too much trouble from purchase to aftercare. Would definitely recommend.
Used Tustain for a few years. Staff always friendly and nice to get your car cleaned after service. However during last visit was advised that all four brake disks and pads needed replaced. Took to another garage for a second opinion. Told all fine and to bring back in a few thousand miles. Six months on just had rear pads replaced. All four disks fine and front pads have more than half their life left even six months on. Was also quoted £2k for a gear box problem that cost me £600 to fix elsewhere. Seemed more focused on selling me a new car than delivering value. Wasn't allowed to speak to mechanic at time. Very disappointed and will now avoid. Exercise caution.
