Overall the library is good. It has a wide arrange of books that you can take out and the facilities in general are good however there are a few important points that needs to be be made. firstly the wifi connection is not good if you are using a laptop and I think that is due to the number of users in the library at any one time. Also some of the young kids that use the library are not always quiet in the quiet study area. The staff don't usually speak to them about this. Lastly I think that some of the quiet rooms should be allowed to be booked by library users. For conference or meeting purposes in general as it would guarantee a quiet area for study or for meetings.
Worst wifi connection in the whole borough, faster wifi at Green Street, Manor Park, Canning Town, Stratford. Management does not care. Secondly East Ham Library is more like a community centre rather than a library and there is constant noise, far better off going to Barking library if you want to do some studying. Biggest asset of the East Ham Library is its staff, they have to deal with a lot of problems and they deal with it in a good manner. Staff are great, the manager is rubbish hides and the council needs to invest more to separate community space from library/study space and update IT infrastructure. Another problem with the building is that it overheats during the summer months causing people significant discomfort, the natural ventilation system does not work and the council should sue the developers of the building !
Not for studying. Newham needs to invest in youth centres because I should not be hearing kids using trumpets and pianos while trying to study in the quiet study in the first floor while kids are making noise in the second floor. No other borough has this stupid of a problem
First off, the service is totally free for everyone!nnThey’re open from Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 8 pm, and on Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm.nnIf you want to use their free WiFi, you just need to sign up with them and show a proof of address like a bank statement. The registration only takes about 2 minutes, and then they’ll give you a card. If you have a laptop, you can use the WiFi without any time limits. But if you don’t, you can use their computers, and each session is limited to 2 hours. After that, there’s a cooldown period before you can use it again.nnIt’s usually super quiet there, perfect for studying! There are also zones for kids, but they’re pretty ok with some disturbance which is negligible .nnThey keep the place warm with heaters running until closing time, so you won’t be cold.nnAnd there are book collections too, covering a wide range of interests for you to explore and read at your leisure!nnThe staff is awesome, always responsive and they really take care of the library. They make sure the study areas stay quiet, which is great for concentrating. I go there often to study and prepare for interviews. Fantastic service all around!
Nice big open library with a visa services office at the top floor.
