Getting an appointment at this medical practice is almost impossible. Even phoning before 9am gets you a recorded message saying 'all our regular GP appointments are taken for today, please try again tomorrow'. On two occasions this has been what I have found. I've just given up. Seems this practice is overwhelmed by all the new housebuilding at Calderwood.
Phoned in yesterday morning in desperate need of speaking to a doctor, it is a busy line but after 6-7 mins on phone I was through to a receptionist, she was lovely and helped me by one getting a doctor to phone me back right away, but also helped me book another appointment in future for an ongoing injury. Doctor listened to me and helped me massively! Great experience considering how busy they are! Chuffed
The service from this surgery is severely lacking, all appointments gone 5 mins after the phones open and don’t even think about trying to book a non-urgent appointment for a few days time. Prescriptions either sent to the wrong pharmacy or not at all!
The Practice is run by very clearly hard working staff, and the Practice Nurses are extremely knowledgeable and proficient in their craft, making for an overall pleasant patient experience. I have also found the front reception staff to be extremely helpful and efficient. Although the facility itself is very much showing its age, the plans to replace it in its entirety with a purpose built new building is great news indeed, for this busy Practice serving the growing village of East Calder.
Partner cannot get through ever. Been trying daily for a month after her prescription was given with a note from the doctor to make an appointment.
Advised by the doctor to call 2 weeks after last conversation about my mental health. Call this morning to be told can't help me until Wednesday. As mental health nurse is off sick. Not sure what that has to do with me speaking to a doctor about my issues. Told can't speak to anyone until Wednesda what kinda of joke doctors is this. You can't refuse someone with metal health issue an appointment that the doctor told me to call for!!!!
Had a great experience last week in regards to calling for an appointment for my daughter whom was seriously ill back in 2017 with sepsis and strep throat which landed her in icu in an induced coma. Anyhoo today I spoke with the lovely Kirsty from reception whom got her a same day telephone consultation with Dr MCloud and straight away he put her on antibiotics not taking any chances. As it turns out was the same infection that landed her in hospital the first time round. So just want to say a big thank you to Kirsty and dr mccloud for getting my daughter better. Kind regards.
I have been registered at the clinic since birth I remember some wonderful doctors past & some present. Its fair to say that over time the practice has evolved however it feels very inconsistently.Currently there is the understanding that staff & clinicians are facing a difficult time and managing as best they can within guidelines and descions to keep the practice safe. However why have some in the practice lost empathy for their paitents. Better empathy from M&S customerservice. said however It
Been using this surgery for 30 years: utterly fantastic every time. Can't believe the negative comment on here. Reception always helpful, polite. Doc McLeod is superb. Practice nurse should be on the honours list.
Cannot get through on phone line. Also not enough appointments for the thousands of patients. Even in emergencies, junkies are taken over anyone else. Receptionist staff got my appointment wrong and then sat and argued with me about it. Absolutely shocking behaviour. You'd expect no less from the playground!
