Very secluded station, platform 2 is accessible only through bridge which is very narrow. Tickets office was closed and there was no information coming up on Google maps which platform to take. Anyhow the LED information boards were working so I sorted it out. Parking is available outside the station.
Possibly one of the worst stations I've ever visited . The footbridge is too narrow for more than two people to pass meaning you miss your train if people are already crossing it, it's also so rusty it looks like it's in a dangerous state of repair. The seats are useless in the rain as the shelter only sticks out a few feet and at an angle perfect for channeling rain right onto the seat. The waiting room is never open during evening rush hour as the staff seem to be part time and the same with the toilet never open. The entrance is only one person wide so again you stand a good chance of missing your train if a few passengers are coming off the platform. This station is not fit for rail travel in this day and age.and needs a major refurbishment. Update they have added a new seated open shelter since I last used the station .
A very random station. Has no ticket barriers. Likely to be confused with a bus stop. Convenient access to the eastern end of the university’s campus, roughly 10 mins of walking.
In my top 6 train stations. Quaint. Malcom is a legend. Platform 2 is not accessible so I’ve deducted a star
Darren was incredibly helpful today with all the cancelled trains. The station would have struggled without him. Thanks for your help
Great food, quick and easy. Bartender was such a lad giving a free pint. Look forward to coming back soon!
Hardly passable for a station that's to serve a somewhat busy commune. Only two ticket machines, a complete lack of step free access towards the London bound platform, the footbridge is rusty and full of cobwebs and the seating is exposed to the weather. The only reason it gets 3 stars is because the lady who works the ticket office is extremely welcoming and friendly. Otherwise, this station is in a dire need of refurbishing.
So there are some engineering works at the station. It's not mentioned on the Trainline website, Google Maps doesn't know either and there isn't any information on the outside of the station. You have to go inside to see some information saying the train is replace by a bus, but it doesn't tell you where is the bus stop of course. You go there, and the bus driver tells you that you need to purchase your ticket at the train station first and of course the bus was delayed by the way. Anyway, if you need to choose between Reading Buses and the train, choose the bus and don't waste your valuable time figuring out how it 1oo works.
It's our most convenient station to catch a train to London Waterloo. The railway is the easiest way for us to travel into London. We could use it to travel to Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and I want to give that a try one day. Malcolm at the ticket window is friendly and makes sure you are sold the cheapest ticket to travel. For regular commuters, there's also a ticket machine.
A traditional railway station where trains are never late! Loco hauled passenger trains pass through occasionally.
