Stopped at Earlestown when the Northern train was arriving at Leeds. The next stop we called at was Newton-Le-Willows.
A basic junction station which isn't served by all trains due to it's proximity to Newton Le Willows down the line from here.nnStep free access is only possible from platforms 1 and 5 due to the layout and there's a lack of accessible footbridge here too. Standard seating and shelter is available and the service frequency and reliability leaves alot to be desired.
There is no way to get to platform 2 with a pram. You have to hope to find someone who would help you carry a pram + baby all the way up the stairs, bridge and down again.
Local station with services to Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington and Chester all of which are stopper services. Station has a ticket office, next train boards and undercover seating.nStation lacks accessibility to platforms 2,3 and 4 as there are steps. A long walk is expected for those needing accessible walkways from platform 1 to platform 5.nCareful if your on an Arriva Trains Wales train as there's quite a step between the train and the platform platform4 and 5. Also a step on platform 3.
Busy station with good direct connections to Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Chester and North Wales.nInteresting history to the station too. It as the oldest railway station building in the world at a used station. Great shamne you can't go in though.
