Had a lovely meal to celebrate a family birthday. The table was ready on arrival and the staff were friendly and seated and took our drink order quickly. We ordered starters and main courses - all different and the even though it was busy the food wasn't too long in being served, hot and larger than average portions. Good value for money and plenty of menu choice as well as a specials board.
Very busy pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We both had the hot beef sandwich , which we enjoyed. The staff were attentive and friendly they even offered us a knife and fork to eat our meal, which came in handy.Service: 4/5
Stayed here for 1 night with my husband for a treat for Newyear. Room was nice and clean with oldie furniture lovely hot shower bed was a bit hard. Lots of very friendly staff cheerful and polite. You can eat in the small restaurant bit or lounge. We had a 2 course meal i can say the shepherd pie was excellent very tasty. The pub is a bit dated very oldie feel and look. Breakfast was lovely everything you would want you have to order the day before. The lady who works in the pub and was there a Breakfast thanks very much you do a great job.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Service was quick and food lovely, my only complaint was that there was too much dressing on the salad so it was too wet. I think a dry salad served with chips would have been more preferable but that's just my opinion as I would definitely recommend and would go again.Service: 5/5
Lovely food with great service. We visited on a Sunday evening so wasn't too busy but still booked in advance. Menu was reduced for a Sunday but there was still a good choice and what there was was lovely. Food came quickly and the staff were all very friendly. Prices were ok. 4 for drinks, 4 main coursrs and 4 desserts it was £97 which is reasonable given the quality. Definitely recommended if you are in the area.
1st time visiting for lunch as i was in the area, recommended to us, by a regular customer, service was great, very good vegetarian menu. Lovely staff, food was unreal, i had the vegan burger, homemade chips, vegan coleslaw & salad! Portions were big but not off putting. My aunt had the quorn meatballs & penne, served piping hot. Certainly recommend
Good service and generous portions , very helpful staff. We had young boys who were playing games and the staff made up a small table for them immediately post meals , it helped enormously. thanks again.Rooms: 4/5
Delicious Sunday lunch with family. Beef plentiful and flavoursome and tender. Good selection of desserts. Excellent friendly waiters. Would definitely go again.
Absolutely Fabulous We visited on New Year's Day a party of 12 people, some from Newcastle, some from Barnsley and some from Bolton. We were dtaying locally for New Years, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was very tasty and good portion sizes, the surroundings were very nice, they couldn't do enough for us, we would definitely have a return visit. Could do with a few more parking places. However did not detract from the overall experience.
Good place to stay but get the feeling that the owner is very tight. The room was cold so we had to ask for the heating to be turned on twice. The staff were very helpful though, breakfast was very nice and room was clean.Rooms: 3/5
