Arrived at the pub on foot and bedraggled in the December rain after a walk through the nearby woods. We were met by friendly staff and a lovely warming fire. We had booked for lunch, which was very tasty, and the staff were helpful with vegan/vegetarian options. Vegan main ravioli lacked flavour but starter and dessert were delicious. Great selection of drinks at the bar. Lovely location. Would recommend. Walkability: We walked through the woods to get to the pub, treacherous December conditions with rain making our walking journey difficult. Would be fine in warmer months! Food & drinks: Very tasty! Not great for vegans, but good vegetarian options and exquisitely prepared and served.
Cannot fault this little gem. Amazing range of real beers, stunning food, great service and on a summers day/evening, it’s top quality sitting in the stages garden. TOP TIP: book for food way in advance if you’d like to sit on the terrace, great view.
An excellent pub in what could be the best acre in West Sussex or the world. Good service and attention to keeping the customer happy. Good menu with variety of produce the changes regularly. And a garden that keeps on giving better and better views as you climb the hill. - Just remember to take your empties back to save the staff the slog.
Surely one of the most picturesque pubs in the land! Beautiful gardens, stunning views. We only stopped for a beer wonderful pint of Harvey's so can't speak for the food but the ambiance inside the pub was great as we're the staff. I would give the place 6 stars if I could.Service: 5/5
Went to the Duke Of Cumberland Arms for an evening meal. The staff managed to get us on a table booked on the same day even though there was a party. The food was absolutely amazing, I had the risotto for mains and the food was so tasty and bursting with flavour with a good portion size. Even the puddings, which are made there, was delicious. Would definitely revisit if I was in the area.
Best roast I’ve ever had!! Staff were phenomenal and very accommodating for the large group I went there with. Great drinks selection with delicious mulled wine for the cold winters. The outdoor fire and great and the venue is very cosy and worth the visit.
Had to give one star to record my review but I don't think it is worth that! Booked Sunday lunch for 1.15pm travelled 40 miles to get there as it had been recommended to us. Ordered before hand as Roast Beef joint was carved by us at the table. The food arrived 35 minutes after we arrived. I asked for the beef to be cooked 'Medium' but it was Rare, blood still evident. It was very tough and lots of fat which we could not eat also the knife was blunt. We only eat half the joint as it was terrible. Also I would like to add that I have nothing against DOGS but a family, near us, had two dogs in the restaurant and they were not kept under control until we asked them to. The dogs were around under our table, which we did not like. Please ask customers who bring their dogs in, to keep them on a short lead and under control I could never recommend this pub. Terrible meal.
I was taken to this amazing pub restaurant in the summer and was so impressed, that I came back with my girlfriends. The food was wonderful but unfortunately they were very short staffed. We waited at least 45 minutes for our plates to be taken away. We thought we were being ignored as no one had come to explain the dilemma . We only had one course but we were there for 4 hours waiting! I can sympathise but an explanation at some point would have made the situation less tense.
A beautiful pub with an incredible outside area with stunning views across the downs. Have eaten here before and the food was fine but it's the setting and venue that really make it worth a visit for a drink.Service: 4/5
This is the most beautiful pub I have ever had the fortune to see. The location is wonderful and the view on a clear blue day is to die for and may as well be heaven on earth. The food and service was extraordinary and every time I spoke to a member of staff my face lit up. When my food arrived I savoured every last mouthful and smiled in absolute bliss. Nearby activities: Lots of walks to do Food & drinks: Incredible on both categories Noteworthy details: Best pub in the southdowns
