Came here as we were staying in the Premier Inn next door. We got a deal as we were staying next door, which was pretty good. As with most Beefeaters, it's a good price for some decent food. The atmosphere is as you'd expect -- it's got a kind of pub feel and is popular with slightly older people. The food itself was pretty good, although there was a bit of a wait. The waitress was really polite, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Overall, decently priced for decent food.
Recent visit to this restaurant at lunchtime. Ordered nachos with beef & a burger for main course. The nachos were a staggering £8.99 with the beef. I had great expectations especially given the price. Well I was clearly wrong, the nachos were terrible. Not only where they tiny in portion size and came with 3 little pots of virtually hardly any sauce, but they were very poor quality nachos. They look like a handful and I mean handful of them were put on a plate and put some cheese on top and thrown into microwave. My colleague had the non-meat version which was also a staggering £7.99 for the same minus the beef. They were all clumped together when trying to eat. It's a 1/10 for me on this starter, the most I've ever paid for nachos and they were terrible. £8.99!! Get real, its a few crisps on a plate with cheese! The Big Dipper Burger was thankfully excellent, although there could have been a few more fries. No complaints with the staff or service, it is just the nachos! Beefeater need to relook at the price point on these and improve the quanity/quality of the dish.
staff amazing - manager wasnt I am a regular traveller with work and have stayed at many Premier Inns, firstly the general decor and ambience of the restaurant indicates a tired and older venue but you can not fault the waiting staff who obviously are passionate to give good customer service. I wasnt blown away by the quality of the food, breakfast scrambled egg was watery and had no taste, the evening meal starters looked suspect. My second evening I was unable to book in advance and when going to the restaurant the manager advised it was busy with 3 large parties and possibly over an hours wait, it was 8.15pm and I find it difficult eating after 9pm so advised as I had booked the meal deal I would like a refund. He informed me the hotel reception staff should of advised me to book in advance in which I explained no one was currently at front of house in the hotel so he accompanied me back to hotel reception where there was indeed no one available as they were sorting something out for a customer, his customer service skills were not particularly inviting and no effort to deliver a better welcoming customer experience. I won't be booking to eat here again.
Very poor Went for the 2 course option and the mushrooms had probably been fried for an hour very tough and hard and the steak was burnt. Tried to complain but the poor young girl was far too shy and quite to do anything. No wonder the place was empty. Will not be returning
The lunch time chilli non carne was amazing and had spice to it however I regret getting the garlic bread over a desert as I could have done with something to south the heat and the garlic bread was not up to par with the meal. I also feel the price of lemonade was a bit higher than I would have paid if I'd known before hand. Still great service and good food so would go again and do recommend :
Very enjoyable lunch here with my children and grandchildren at the weekend. Service and food was top quality, no lengthy wait, attentive waiting staff. The grandchildren could enjoy themselves without big told to ssshhhh by anyone. Booked prior to guarantee a table and glad we did as we were in a party of eight. Would recommend for a tasty bite. Chris the manager can't help enough, his attention to service is first class
Good food, quick service and nice mgt, easy to park.
This place is the strangest place I’ve ever come across. I regularly meet family here as half way point and every time we go in, we just get a coffee or two. However. You’d think this way easy. It is not. The staff last time where confused. Told us to come back on 30 mins & we could grab a hot drink, I happened to be waiting for someone to arrive, so when they arrived. Went back in and told must sit in restaurant and can’t order drinks must order food. So we said fine. After a bit of faffing around, the lady said “I don’t have a table till 1” this was an hour away. The three of us, just said forget it” and walked out. I find the staff here such hard work over basic items.
Nice place. Not too busy when we visited. Uncomplicated but varied menu. Prices are reasonable too. Waitress was very pleasant and at least smiled which you don't always get in this type of restaurant.Food: 5/5
Went last night for first time to this location. Rundown and tired, in need of an overhaul. Carpet looking like the same one they laid down in 1974. Our mean meals were 7/10. Child's pizza sent burnt. The cod bites were much better. Young girl serving us was one of the only pluses. Used 40% off voucher and still felt like I overpaid. I would suggest to avoid and go to Harvesters or go to a newly remodelled Beefeater like the one in Reading.
