Was in for food . The main course was okay but the deserts was disgusting. 3 people at our table had sticky toffee pudding and couldn’t eat it the other 2 deserts was dry . Waitress did remove desserts from bill . Lady behind bar was serving wearing a jacket not professional looking at all .
First impressions of the room was ok until I went through to ensuite!! Toilet had not been cleaned, someone must have had diarrhoea!! The shower screen was filthy so was the screen on the window. When I had a look at the bed, 2 pillow cases were dirty. I have given the 2 stars for the food which was lovely. But would not recommend this hotel.
Arrived and ordered coffee, which was great and prompt service. However, when it came to settle bill, could find no staff. Waited 15 mins, despite local customers making every effort to trace staff. Recommended if you are not in a hurry, otherwise be prepared to wait.
New owner, service was terrible. Waited 45 mins on food which was wrong order, then waited 20 mins on drinks, stood at bar because the waitress doesn't take orders for drinks. Whilst waiting my food came and 10 mins later the barman was serving people who were drinking at the bar when I started waiting. Told him to stick it where the sun doesn't shine and walked out. Family didn't pay for anything. Place is a joke. Won't be back and I'm local.
Just back from a VERY hectic weekend in Banchory and used The Burnett Arms as our rest point in between. Checking in was very smooth and we were directed to our rooms. The room itself was clean and well presented. It was a large room with a "Deluxe" bed. Very comfortable and cosy. Large bathroom with a great shower. We ate and drank in the restaurant both nights and the service was excellent!!! The lovely bar maid, Cat, was very accommodating towards our needs and requests. The food was delicious and well portioned. We will definitely be returning.
Poor experience here at a 5 day stay last month. Main light didn't work in the room I was allocated and the TV had no remote. Second room I was given, supposedly prepared, had used towels draped about the place and TV didn't work. Third room ok apart from windows being nailed down and the vague smell of stale cigarette smoke throughout that floor. Fire alarm went off at 10.30 pm, and I seemed to be the only one paying it any attention. 'This happens quite a lot', one guy told me in the lobby. Staff all very young, reception frequently unmanned, phone line to call someone when unmanned didn't work. Nobody seemed willing to take any responsibility for any of the obvious issues the hotel has with the quality of its fittings, no sign of anyone you could actually identify as 'management'. Only positive I can give was that the cooked breakfast was consistently excellent. I won't be back.
There was no hot water in the room, and the radiator turned off the middle of the night. It was freezing.Rooms: 2/5
The bar is very tastefully decorated and has a great range of drinks available. We didn’t stay for food but the drinks were reasonable and it was a lovely place to stop for a wee while.
Faulty Towers springs to mind. A busy noisy road in front of the hotel and the food isn't good at all. We will never go back!!! The cheese & onion omelette that was served to my wife was grey, lacking cheese and the onion was dubious. It was inedible and therefore not eaten. My chips the previous night had been reheated and we had to send them back for fresh ones. Now, the staff are very friendly, helpful, the room was nice and warm and clean. With some concentration on quality it could be a nice place to stay. The beer was good!
I had a lovely room clean with amenities. The bar and barman were great. It is now family run and all staff were friendly. The breakfast was okay but was slow from order to the table and the full Scottish was missing an ingrediant each day.
