My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Harrogate for one night. There were definitely some positives, but unfortunately our room and some of the facilities fell well below what we would expect from a Hilton hotel.nThe staff were excellent throughout our stay. Ashley, the Duty Manager, and Renisha on Reception were particularly helpful, professional, and did their best to resolve the issues we experienced. The lobby area, staircase, and function rooms are absolutely stunning, with a grand and elegant feel that creates a great first impression.nUnfortunately, the King Room we were allocated was quite disappointing. The décor felt old and dated, and the room itself was dusty. While the double sinks in the bathroom were a nice touch, there were several maintenance issues. The bath would not drain properly and I had to fiddle with the plug to get it working. The shower hose had a split in it, causing water to spray everywhere when using the handheld attachment. The paint on the coving above the shower was peeling badly, which added to the overall tired appearance of the room.nThere were also some practical issues. The dressing table mirror was not positioned properly for someone wanting to do their makeup, and a fridge had been placed where the chair would normally be. The room was extremely hot. Although there was a fan provided, it was faulty and the blades were catching on the metal grille, making a loud noise. I ended up removing the front cover just to make it usable.nWe repeatedly tried calling Reception and Guest Services, but nobody answered. Eventually, once we spoke to staff directly, they provided a replacement fan. As the hotel was fully booked, moving rooms was not an option.nThe overnight experience was not ideal. To cool the room down, we had to leave both the windows and curtains open. This allowed some airflow but also meant we could hear the noise from the external ventilation system throughout the night.nWe also used the spa facilities. The indoor facilities were pleasant and well maintained. However, the outdoor hot tub was very disappointing. The water appeared dirty, with hair floating in it, which was unhygienic and off-putting. Several other guests also seemed concerned about its condition.nOverall, the hotel's public areas and customer service were impressive, but the condition of the room and the cleanliness of the outdoor hot tub significantly affected our stay. While the staff did everything they could to help, the hotel is in need of investment and refurbishment, particularly in the guest rooms
Quite simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed innnWithout exaggeration, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.nnOur first room absolutely stank of cooking food and was directly above a kitchen extraction fan. We were moved to another room, only to find the key didn’t work, resulting in yet another trek back to reception. Both rooms were unbearably warm.nnIn fairness, the food was actually very good and the Food & Beverage team were pleasant and considerably more helpful. Unfortunately, that was about the only positive.nnReception was appalling — unhelpful, disinterested and seemingly incapable of sorting out even the most basic problems. For a hotel charging these sorts of prices, the overall experience was astonishingly poor.nnThe building may look grand from the outside, but that is where it ends. The rooms, reception service and overall guest experience fall woefully short of what anyone should reasonably expect.nnWe paid for two nights and genuinely couldn’t wait to leave.nnAnd please spare us the standard management reply underneath this review — we have absolutely no interest in hearing it. The time to show some concern was while we were actually staying in the hotel.
Stayed here for a weekend staycation and it has gorgeous interiors. The Spa was really nice, especially the outdoor hydro pool. They had a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool indoors and a single hydro pool outside which can fit up to 6 people. There’s also little huts with pillows outside which you can lay in and sunbath. Can get busy so would recommend going down early morning but people didn’t stick around in the outdoor hydro pool for long during our stay. This is expected as it’s outdoors but there was obviously some insects or dirt in the hydro pool outside but otherwise everything was very clean!nnOur room was average- there wasn’t much wardrobe space or a mini fridge in our room but wasn’t an issue for us. We also didn’t have robes and slippers in our rooms like most spa hotels but noticed other guests having them so may be to do with type of booking so double check. There was also a fan and radiator in the room but no air conditioning system. small windows that can be slightly opened during hot nights.nnParking onsite and you register inside. Costed us around £18 a night.nnReally good location in regard to high street, dining and shops. Everything is close by and walking distance
I stayed one night in the Hilton Harrogate. I booked the base level room but was given an upgrade to the King Bed Deluxe Guestroom, with my Honors Diamond Status. No drink vouchers etc were provided at check in but the doubletree cookie was as nice as always.nThe hotel is conveniently located but looks very shabby from the exterior, it could do with a pressure wash! The interior was lovely, although the elevator did not go all the way to the top floor, with a slight of stairs needed to get there- something to keep in mind for accessibility purposes.nThe room was large and comfortable, with a king sized bed and multiple armchairs. I was a big fan of the spacious bathroom too. However, the TV was not smart in any way and could only play a limited selection of channels- it would have been nice to know before hand that I’d need a HDMI cable for my laptop.nThe breakfast was in the diner which looked very nice, but it was a bog standard hotel breakfast- I’ve had better in other Hilton’s. If I had to pay for it, I wouldn’t have bothered.nI did not use the spa amenities but the gym was okay, it had a slightly wider selection of equipment than most Hilton’s.nThe staff were friendly and I had no issues.nI paid about £90 which I would say is good value, but on nights when it is £250, I’d suggest to look elsewhere.
We attended a wedding anniversary and found the location easy to find via satnav. The grounds appear well kept as is the imposing building. Staff were curtious and helpful in regard to available parking. The size of the building is such that more than one event can be held without imposing on another. The foyer area is large, open and quite grand with comfortable seating. The hotel is situated a short car ride on the outskirts of the centre of Harrogate. Our overall experience was a positive one.
