Your Hair style is about You and should Celebrate your Individuality!
Dorothy’s international reputation for creative hairdressing has been built up over 53 years. Her natural creative talent has been recognised by some of the most influential people in the hairdressing world. Many have tried to lure her into the “city lights” but Dorothy enjoys having a local salon and says “It was my choice to be in a village with real people”.
In 2000 Dorothy first presented panel colouring with her ‘Rainbow Colours’ at Wembley Salon International , which attracted Jean-Marie in Belgium, who invited Dorothy to do a seminar to inspire famous names from all over the world, with her techniques. It’s impact worldwide was huge and led to more offers from salons like Vidal Sassoon and Molten Brown London. This theme is still very much in demand now and can be found in all fashion magazines. One of Britain’s most loved and sought after hairdressing icons Errol Douglas stated he couldn’t “hold a candle” to Dorothy Hammond’s colour designs.
Dorothy continues to attract admiring comments from some of the UK’s best stylists. Andrew Barton, the International Creative Director for Saks and British Hairdresser of the Year, is probably better known for being the hair expert on hit Channel 4 extreme make-over show, Ten Years Younger. Barton, who has worked on fashion shows for Versace, Calvin Klein and Prada, dubbed Dorothy Hammond “a legend”.
With her feet still firmly on the ground, Dorothy continues to work in Killamarsh. She enjoys the recognition she has earned as any artist would. But what is also important to Dorothy is recognition from her customers. She has clients who travel from all over the UK for regular appointments and some who even return and keep appointments from abroad.
