Like a hug from your favourite aunt this place always feels so familiar and reliable. Maybe because I always order the exact same thing, I can't resist those giant prawns that are always seemingly on the specials board. Portions are intimidating perfect to take those relatives to who always complain about portion size... and staff are very friendly. Some of those I went with said it was a touch on the salty side for them, and the prices have definitely gone up since the pandemic and endless roadworks around Temple Meads, but I personally have no complaints.
I was heading to see an art exhibit and was looking to get food before I went. I walked from the bus to the exhibit and found Don.G only a few minutes from the exhibit. I arrived at 545 pm and the women at the front said she could sit me but needed the table by 730pm. I had a 7pm ticket so it was perfect.. I salt down and was pleased to see all the seafood choices they had on the menu. The order the prawns and the mussels. The prawns were a nice size , bonus with adding tiny prawns. The dressing/ side salad of the dish really had tons of flavor and even was really a refreshing dish. The mussels were covered in the tomato/garlic sauce and did blend very nicely with the mussels. Over all really enjoyed the food here.
I came here for valentine's day. The food was delicious and arrived very quickly. The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The restaurant itself is beautiful on the inside! Can highly recommend the Chicken and Mushroom Risotto, Paté starter and Cannolo dessert.
I forgot to review in the same evening. It was a weekday. I really enjoyed every dish but my favorite was the risotto with seafood, Everything was superb.. The service was very good, excellent. Authentic Italian/sicilian dishes in a modern style review. I'm Sicilian and I really really enjoyed our dinner. So well done to all Don Giovanni's Staff.
Great food and beautifully presented.... Menu has a wide range of options. Very busy on Saturdays so do book in advance and expect to wait a little bit. However very much worth it!

Had another wonderful evening at Don Giovanni's.We like going there for an unhurried evening with great tasting food. Had the Whitebait and Calamari to start, with Lemon Sole mains.Followed by a cheeky bread and butter pudding.It was just what we needed, a good night out.Thank you to the chef and the team there.Will return, just one thing, the Canollo make more please ,they sell out so fast we were unlucky this time.Will prebook it next time lol.
First time going here, had a date night with my partner. Staff very professional and courteous. They were under staffed but did a smashing job. Hats off to the chef, my girlfriend had the swordfish and it was cooked perfectly, I had steak for the first time in 15 years, even though I like it well done, it was still soft and chewable, cooked perfectly. Message to the chef, your food is phenomenal. Definitely coming here again.
Service was very good, but food wasn't worth the price. Starters were better than the mains. For main we got a seafood risotto which in my opinion had too much going on and was more watery than creamy. The steak we asked for it medium rare and was more of a medium to medium well. Good for a one time thing but we probably won't be coming back
Fantastic selection of authentic Italian food. All freshly made and you can tell, the quality, flavour and portion size was impressive. We were a party of 8, all had starters and mains and every member of our party loved their choices. Vegetarian options: Great options for non meat eaters, some dishes can be made veggie friendly too Dietary restrictions: My intolerance was no problem and clearly marked on our order
