A completely hidden gem worth the walk. It is quite a trek, and you may find far more hills than you bargained for, but if you're lucky you might get to meet a lovely local farmer called Henry who shows you a great path through the fields. We're very grateful to him for guiding us along.nnThe rocks are exquisite, well worth the visit, and completely off the beaten path. Near impossible to get to with a buggy, and dogs and small children may not fair well on this walk, but the peacefulness is worth it.
Doll Tor DerbyshirennConstructed in the Bronze Age, estimated between 2000 and 1500 BC.nThe stones are set at the edge of a platform which was designed to stage seasonal ceremonies. The presence of the cairn right next to the circle lends itself to the idea that ritual internment practices took place here. Interestingly cremated human remains have been found here as opposed to the skeletal remains along with funerary goods.
A short walk from the Andle stone. I've visited on many occasions and am blown away every single time. Enchanting.
Definitely worth a visit. it's really easy to get to although you do have to cross some fields. It's a great walk from 9 ladies, to the Cork stone, to the andle stone, then to Doll tor.nnReally nice place to see and has a totally different vibe to 9 ladies or arbor Low nearby.nnOne of my favourites if I'm honest and the fact that it's quite a well hidden gem makes it even more special.
One of the smallest stone circles in Derbyshire it has a cozy and charming look. I rated 4 stars only because access to Doll Tor requires you to cross the farmland. On the other hand you can be sure it won't be overcrowded as Nine Ladies nearby can be
