Easy roadside parking and a hard standing car parknNo amenities herenEasy walking for all abilities with plenty of paths to follow around the areanThe cork stone is about a 10 minute walk from the car parknMainly sheep around here so suitable for dog walking
Quite a cool part of history. The stone is not too high around 15ft and there is metal handles stuck in the stone which make it a little easier to climb.nnI will say this if you do climb the stone take your time as some of the metal grips are difficult to hold on to around the bottom and although it is not that high there is solid stone slabs at the bottom so be careful.
Love Stanton Moor great paths, walks and 9 Ladies Circle, wonderful views, plus ancient history.
The Cork Stone is Located just inside the Moor when you enter from the Birchover side.nWe watched as families stopped and then climbed or should I say attempted to climb the stone and with age being no barrier it was good spectating sportnWhile we were watching a couple of chaps appeared with fall mats and climbed it without using the Iron Grips that was impressive..nThe Moor was wonderful to walk through and we found the paths to be manageable but would definitely recommend sturdy footwear.
If it's the Derbyshire Peak District that you want to enjoy then this could be the ideal place for a circular walk. It Will take you about an hour and thirty minutes but it's peaceful, rugged and great for the soul. You have the Cork Stone, when you see it you'll know how it got it's name. The nine ladies circle, a tower and some of the most fantastic scenery in the area, try it and I bet you'll return over and over again.
