What a very impressive house. Lots to see and knowledgeable volunteers to answer any queries. The 'forgotten room' holds many curios from times past. The gardens are full of blooms with easy access. The kitchen garden is superb with produce used in the cafe and well stocked farm shop. Look out for the three sweet chestnut trees, around 450 years old. Ample free car parking on site and across the road.
I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this place is. We've just been on the twilight tour and it was beautiful and amazing! The tour guide, Hannah who's also the building manager was friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet. A glass of bubbly and a savoury treat on arrival and the wild tour begins.. fantastic locally made designs in each room and responsibly sourced materials along with a story to tell and history to be revealed in each room you visit.
What an amazing day at Doddington Hall and Gardens. It was our first time to go for Pumpkin picking, so was just fantastic. We really enjoyed every part of it. The fall spirits is so cozy, the Halloween decorations so lovely. Then we headed to the pumpkin field, people from every where gathering there and searching for the perfect pumpkin, all smiling and enjoying it. Thank you very much for making it simple and easy for everyone to enjoy the Halloween. Will come again next year
Visited for one of the Xmas Twilight Tours. Several of the rooms are dressed to a theme, and it was a wonderful time to make this our first visit to inside the house. It's wonderful to know that the house has stayed within the family for over four centuries, and despite a few wobbles it's still growing and developing to the benefit of the local area and Lincoln.
A nice gem a short drive from Lincoln, with decent gardens kitchen, grassy, flowers, a summer sculpture exhibition with 340 sculptures, and 12-15 rooms to walk through across three floors. You could easily spend 45-75 minutes in the gardens, and 30-45 in the house if seeing things at a moderate pace. The house was built late 16th century, and the free audio guides, mini books in each room with room highlights, volunteers, or paid guidebook all give additional information about the family and objects inside. For sculptures, over 340 were positioned throughout the gardens from mid-July to mid-September, and included in the gardens ticket. Each has a number, and details of it and it's price can be found online or within a book for purchase. It's a wide variety in sizes, with many focusing on animals or modern interpretations. House entry is by timed ticket, and though we were able to get one walking up for 1.25 hours later it could be worth prebooking at busy times. It's also part of a few membership schemes, like Historic Houses, which gives a decent discount on tickets £6.8 adults for garden & house vs. £13 regular. Free parking across the road, and loos generally clean. Also on site: cafes and shops with home goods and food items
Went today to see the Scuptures, gardens & beautiful surrounding countryside. Excellent cafe/restaurant, good well stocked Farmshop. Nearby free parking. Toilets very clean.
Gardens need a little bit of work, but enjoyed the visit. Lunch was good quality, even if choice was limited.
Fantastic, we've been this afternoon to look at the Christmas decorations a Wonderful display , the hall was lovely and warm and no big Crowds of people so you could a good round The guides were very helpful and Polite
An absolutely stunning Christmas display in the hall ‘Christmas by the riverbank’, using materials from the estate and recycling where possible. A must see this Christmas, lots of great events throughout the festive time.
Just brilliant! The house is incredibly interesting and the guides are very knowledgeable and have so many fun facts about the house. The gardens were just as great if one better! I am a professional gardener and I was so impressed by the upkeep of the formal gardens and topiaries. The walk around the gardens have a very fun activity to complete, the group I was with are all above the age of 25 and we had so much fun completing the activity and playing the games set out along the way! There is never a dull moment along the walk, and it was lovely and quiet as well despite being a bank holiday Monday! Will definitely be coming back again
