Always pleasant to visit even though prices are not as cheap as before the refurbishment. I can't believe some reviews moaned about needing to wear masks there during covid. There are often elderly volunteers working there who are more vulnerable so is it really that much inconvenience to help protect them?
Lovely welcoming, friendly staff. Fabulous place to browse for bargains and then you just have to pop next door for tea and cake. Delicious.
Love this shop such nice staff and wonderful things to buy!
Always find something interesting and reasonably priced staff are always friendly and helpful.
Outstanding customer service and a wide range of items for purchase. Would definitely recommend visiting the shop even for a nose around. Staff are very knowledgeable and very helpful.
I have never received such an uncharitable response from a charity shop before. Myself and my friend visited a few days ago, we made the sales assistant aware of our exemption to be allowed not to wear a face covering. However, there were rumblings afoot, and another shop worker curtly instructed us to leave the shop. We left and then returned, humiliated and outraged, and asked for the manager. Eventually he deemed to grace us with his presence. He cited that it was the church owned charity shop policy to instruct shoppers to leave the premises, if no face covering was worn. He did not accept the Government guidelines, and despite showing our exempt badges and inhalers, he continued to insist we left the premises, we did not until we also received a verbal apology from the young man, who was sent originally to instruct us to leave the shop. I asked the manager, if I had been a wheelchair user and not wearing a face covering, and showed my exemption from wearing face covering badge, from the Government website, would he still tell me to leave the shop premises, he said HE WOULD STILL INSTRUCT ME TO LEAVE THE CHARITY SHOP PREMISES. We have since found out that several people have experienced the same, unfriendly, uncaring, cold response from Discoveries staff. All you lovely people with visible disabilities and hidden disabilities, BEWARE, even those with a combination of visible and hidden disabilities, when attempting to visit Discoveries church charity shop, A BOLT OF LIGHTNING AWAITETH THEE AT THE SHOP ENTRANCE.
I was in there yesterday with a friend and we are both Exempt from wearing face coverings as I have chest problens and we're both asthmatic. We made the lady at the till aware and she seemed fine but then a very abrupt young man asked us both to leave and made us feel like lepers. We left and then went back to speak to the Manager and were told to wait by the door which we both refused to do. The Manager appeared and was most unhelpful and basically if your Exempt from wearing a face covering your not welcome in this shop. Not very Christian considering this is part of the Church. We will never set foot in there again. Rude staff and unwelcoming. This is also against the Government rules and very discriminary, we were both shocked to be treated like this.
Great service, staff always helpful. Good variety of second hand items.
Lovely lunch and a long browse in a very tidy and appealing charity shop.
Cheerful staff, and overall nice vibe hanging around. Especially the young lad with the glasses, Monkus was his name? Great guy.
