The radio station in general is average. How ever my experience on one of the radio show there as a invited participant to a show which takes place on a Wednesday around 1.0 clock pm and my wife and family as a listener found the whole experience very hostile, the panel seem to be very clique orientated. The Presenter try as he might was never in control of the shows . Although he has good intentions the show is consistently hijacked by two people on the panel in particular of which one seems to have taken up a role there as a unofficial guru doctor and the other who says is a writer. Of which i found the pair of them to be incredibly rude and obnoxious, to the point were there contribution is such that one could quite easily come to the conclusion that they had in the short but brief time i was there had indeed hijacked the show completley. It has since come to my attention that i am not the only one who has views of this nature. If for instance i had a show that was generally focusing on the Asian prospective for instance then one would generally assume an Asian professional would be on the panel to air the Asian prospective. To my surprise here we have a show that tends to discuss Caribbean issues and yet there is no professional person of Black Caribbean origin on the panel airing the Black Caribbean prospective. There are also indicators that lead me and as i have been recently made aware that the self appointed guru has never lived in the Caribbean but yet feels confident to act as a world authority on matters pertaining to Caribbean behaviour, for those in the know who do not agree with this self appointed guru its rather like inviting a turkey for xmas dinner. One thing that is noticeable is that some of the comments that have been made on the radio has indeed offended quite a number of listeners in and outside the UK as the presenter of the show is fully aware , including all the female members of my Family, who could not believe the incredible rudeness that they have read on my message board particularly from one member of the panel. It is in my view not unreasonable to expect to have on the panel a black professional on the panel who can champion the black prospective. This area is one of complete annoyance. Its as ridiculous as me going on a chat show and speaking on behalf of the National Front. The show may as well be called the guru featuring Laurel and Hardy. The presenter means well but clearly is very reluctant to lose, curtail or at least demote what is clearly his favourite prize possessions on the show. As a result i like many other listeners that i and the presenter are aware of will no longer be tuning in to this show until there is a balance that reflect the black prospective from a person who has a cultural link to the subject matters in question on the show. I am aware that the show has had a bad review particularly from people in Trinidad and Tobago and in the UK to, yet no attempt is made to adjust the format, in fact the presenter encourages potential listeners to abort the show. When you try to attract the presenters attention to these concerns, it from my experience is met with a one or three syllabus sentence and a follow up of silence and of course the oxygen of communication is shut down completely. There is indeed a chap of Caribbean origin in the studio alongside the presenter and thank god for that. What i am talking about is that the doctor on this show has as far as i can tell possess no cultural link to the very heart of the black prospective at all. This is incredibly annoying. In addition to this it is very difficult to get a word in edge ways until the presenter jumps in. I have been aware that the show has been called some very acidic names such as vile etc etc , as the presenter is fully aware. And to my astonishment i now find my Family and a few friends saying the same, personally i see a lot of potential in the presenter and the show but have zero confidence in the core panel that he has elected. Yours Sincerely Lord James Robinson
