The club has great facilities, pleasant friendly staff and members. However communication with anyone to point out an issue is via chat on an app which never gets answered. Email responses take over two weeks. I upgraded my membership and have paid the higher rate for 3 month yet I’m told this is not showing on the systems . Front desk staff have no ability to change this . What about having people in your club or available by phone who can take care of things in reasonable time frame?
Very poor overall, very disappointed with the gym very small and poor equipment compared to the membership price. Very proactive when getting you to join always call when expected happy to help but if you want to cancel this isn’t the same story.Upon cancellation was told full and immediate refund will be paid.. one month later after this, refund hasn’t been made and are now trying to not refund joining fee. They arranged a call to discuss this but never came through, In fact no contact at all. Now are just withholding the full year’s payment for me and my partner for some unknown reason?
The gym itself is reasonably well equipped and large enough to cope with demand at busy times. Some machines are in need of replacing and matt equipment exercise balls / bosu balls ect are absent or in limited supply. The pool, although small is a nice temperature and the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are nice extras. The classes are very good, instructors are amazing and the spin / cycle room is fantastic. They have recently upgraded the changing room, but the showers are in need of refurbishment. Generally, the cleanliness in the showers is poor with hair and stains left on the doors and walls of the cubicles for days at a time. Regarding management response to complaints and concerns, there is work needed. An incident involving a woman filming herself and others in the women's changing rooms was reported to staff and concerns were brushed aside with no action taken. When improvements in the gym were underway, the noise levels were well above legal exposure limits and neither gym users nor employees were provided with ear protection - something as simple as ear plugs would have been enough for the length of time of the work was being undertaken, but none were provided and management seemed uninterested or unaware of their responsibility to gym users and their own employees. The Oxford David Lloyd gym is very expensive at nearly £100 per month. The Oxford gym is not as nice and is less well equipped than other gyms around the country and so I feel it is not very good value for money and I have since cancelled my membership.
Quality gym with excellent facilities. It's expensive, but you get value for money if you regularly attend exercise classes. The staff are lovely, always polite and work hard to keep on top of things.
Poor customer service, showers smells nasty ! Not what you expect in the club with such price ! Classes were nice , gym equipment nothing unussual. Expectations were higher Did a trial in summer wanted to bring children to try and to see if improved over the summer however the trial was cancelled with no refund given! Feels like I was scamed !
It a brilliant place. Extremely welcoming, the pool is wonderful and the spa is a dream. Always relaxing and very clean. Impresed and very thankful every single time me and my family visit.
The whole place is filthy and poorly maintained. Changing rooms and showers are never checked for cleanliness and management do not care. A lot of the gym equipment is in poor condition and neither the trainers not the staff seem to look after the place. A lot of the plates need replacing and there is a shortage of clips for the cable attachments. The showers are full of mould and are generally a health hazard. Join at your own risk.
I’m overly rather dissatisfied with this gym, given the membership price at 100£ a month. I’m still a member but only because is 10 min walk from where I leave and I feel there is t a good alternative for it in oxford, with integrated facilities such as swimming pool, spinning classes and general gym equipment. I imagine this is the only reason this gym is getting away with such a low level of service as they are. The facilities are generally good, and there are some excellent instructors working here. unfortunately facilities are not clean. Particularly the shower area recently has been just appalling, smelly, with lots of hair blocking the drainage. Same unfortunately withy the loos. I don’t use them any more. There are issues with some anti-social behaviours such as filming in the dressing room or constant hogging of spa area by groups of young males. As a women I don’t feel comfortable using those most of the time. This gym is really a shame on David Loyds, this is the worst of their gyms I have seen.

Do not join David Lloyd Oxford. It’s not good value for money. If you become pregnant or ill, they will not refund you fees. It’s a very expensive gym, when there are others on par. I was hospitalised during my pregnancy, but no one got back to me about a refund. After giving birth, midwives advise not to exercise for 8 weeks. Yet again spoke to reception staff, no one got back to and no refund. It would be a waste of midwives and GPs to spend time writing letters for gyms to advise that, no surprise, after giving birth, you shouldn’t exercise. Perhaps women should give birth and then use the gym after labour, injure themselves and sue David Lloyd Oxford?! They provide no antenatal or postnatal fitness classes. The changing rooms are not clean. The family changing room gets unduly hot and stuffy. Very poor ventilation. The steam room and jacuzzi are often broken. Therefore you are only paying for a gym and a swimming pool. The crèche is only open Monday -Friday in the morning, not at weekends. I would not recommend signing up to the gym, especially if you are thinking of having a baby in a few years. It’s a waste of money. They rely on getting lots of members and don’t strive to prove value for money to existing members. Other David Lloyds elsewhere have better spa facilities and an outdoor pool.
