Story

Daisy Hill Hospital is a local teaching hospital located in Newry, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The hospital currently houses a neonatal unit, A&E department, out-patients department and a surgery suite. Attached to the hospital is on-site accommodation for nursing staff and an ambulance station. It is part of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, which became operational on 1 April 2007 following the amalgamation of Craigavon Area Hospital Group, Craigavon and Banbridge Community, Newry and Mourne and Armagh and Dungannon Health and Social Services Trusts. It is situated on the Hospital Road and backs onto the A25 Camlough Road, on the site of the former Newry Workhouse. In the early 1990s Daisy Hill became the only hospital in Newry & Mourne as services were gradually withdrawn from St. John of God Hospital, also in Newry, which then became St. John's House, a dedicated hospice for children and adults suffering from terminal illnesses.New hospitalA £130m business case for the building of a new hospital on the existing Daisy Hill site has been submitted by the Trust. An allocation for modernisation and development of services was included in the £2.9 billion investment programme announced for health and social services over the next ten years in the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland in December 2005. In 2015, while discussion on provision of a new hospital continues, no new building has been commenced.

My daughter had been sent by GP for scan to A&E .When we walked in the waiting room was full to capacity, it was overwhelming. After bloods and scan were taken , unfortunately my daughter passed out, but I cannot fault the way the staff looked after her they made us both feel assured , many thanks to all x.
I was there 10 weeks back. Staff. Are brilliant... None stop.nNurses and doctors. Were and still are best working force in A hospital in this country..nFood was lovely.nGreat care. Pleasant. And down to earth.
Was born here nearly 32 years ago and have been as a child to a&e when I was 8 in 2000 and I remember it very well as I screamed the place down having broken the tip of my finger.nI also had a visit with my father in 2015 when it was very busy but still treated super nice.nnNot sure if covid and cuts to staff and budget has changed all that sincenIt just seems the NHS is struggling as much as the patients are due to all this.nnMy sister was born here also in 2000 so it seems to be a decent place.
I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I received at this hospital. During my stay, I encountered a nurse named Beatrice who displayed unprofessional behavior, abusive language, and mood swings. This created a distressing environment and compromised the quality of care. As a patient, I expected to be treated with respect and compassion. I hope the hospital takes immediate action to address this issue and ensure patients are treated properly in the future.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to the exceptional staff at Daisy Hill Hospital.nDuring a short illness our son brother and friend was treated with great care and dignity. Also the support we were given as a family was very professional and genuinely sincere.nAnd for this we are extremely grateful.
