Let's tell a little story about the way these guys treat their customers. My wife and I travelled up to view and test drive a car which was all easy to arrange and the staff were very pleasant to deal with. After the drive we sat down and spoke with the sales rep and the owner of Daimler Benz to come to an arrangement on the possibility of P/X our car with them and taking the car. We went away to have a think and decided that yes, we would like to purchase the vehicle. I rang up Ian the sales rep, paid a £500 deposit whilst I arranged an independent inspection of the car I mean, when you're spending £40k on a car, this seems like the sensible thing to do right?. Ian said that the deposit would take the car off sale for 24 hours until the inspection had been carried out which all seemed fine. However, the next morning, Ian rang to say that the boss there, Caleb, had in fact sold the car so we would be getting our deposit back. At this point, we had already paid for the inspection as arranged for that afternoon, and as this was all so last minute, we had to pay a cancellation fee which left us out of pocket. This was when the owner at Daimler-Benz showed his true colours... My wife rang and enquired as to why this had happened and that we would like the cancellation fee covered. After being put on loudspeaker in the office, Caleb then went on to shout from the other side of the room that we should have trusted them, that it was our own fault and that we wouldn't be getting a penny out of them actual words. He was rude, condescending, arrogant and as my wife put it, gross. During the initial discussions, Caleb had suggested that we back out of a deal with a buyer for our vehicle that we had lined up, stating that 'it's purely business, he'll probably back out in you anyway'. He of course, loved to bring this up as another reason why we deserved this. I add this because inevitably, there will be a reply to this review with some blah blah reason that we were difficult to deal with, even though I have all of this recorded on email regarding the holding fee. In summary, these guys are the type of people that give car dealers bad reputations. If you do exactly what they say and don't arrange independent inspections, then they'll be your best friend. As soon as you question anything, you are treated like absolute garbage. We have our deposit back now, but honestly, we're still fuming. The way Caleb spoke to my wife, and the general privileged vibe that they give off is horrendous. Have a quick search on companies house and you will see that they were nearly struck off. It's quite frankly a shame that they weren't. Get an independent inspection done on anything you may buy from them would be my advice. If they have a problem with that then quite frankly, don't go near it. UPDATE: Well that response was somewhat predictable.
Simon at Daimler Benz is great to deal with, He is always ready to answer any questions at a moments notice even when he was very busy. He offered a great fair service for me when negotiating that even included an upgraded warrantee for the car I was buying. Simon is easy to speak to and kept me informed when I could expect delivery, what was going on pre delivery and checking out questions I had about the car. On delivery Simon ran me through the vehicle transfer and tax which was fast. Due to Covid-19 I was unable to see the car in person but the pictures on the site where good quality which helped a lot. Simon did his best to describe the condition accurately. On delivery I checked the car over and it was pretty much how Simon described it. Gavin delivered my car and called me when he was close. He ran me through a few things and gave me his impression of the car. He came across as a friendly, easy going guy, giving me all the time I needed to ask question and look around the car. I didn't feel rushed at all. I have rung Daimler Benz on a number of occasion throughout the purchase with question and every one I spoke with has been a pleasure to talk to. It comes across as being a very professional business with professional friendly and knowledgeable people working there. I know it early days after receiving my car but I can highly recommend dealing with Simon and the team at Daimler Benz. Its been a pleasure. Thank you.
Buyer from Belfast. Spoke on the phone about a test drive. Flew over and they picked me up at the airport and drove me to Potton for the test drive. Car was exactly what they said and promised. After 2 hours I was on the road to Liverpool in My Mercedes CLA 220D Shooting Brake to get the overnight Ferry. 4000 miles and 3 months later still a very happy customer.
Never have I ever come across such a rude salesman. He just could not be bothered when we showed interest in a car. We were constantly phoning him and he kept giving us the runaround. When we told him that his customer care had not been that great his reply was “ don’t buy the car then “ . Simon you need to go back and learn some good customer care. Would avoid this garage at all cost. It all came good as I have purchased elsewhere.
Quality of the cars is class and quality of the service and assistance from the guys is top quality. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for mint car!
Purchased a pristine 2014 E350 Estate from Simon and the team at Daimler Benz, and truly could not be happier. Even under ‘normal’ circumstances, buying a car can be a stressful experience, but to be doing this in the middle of lockdown, with no possibility to view or test-drive certainly put me off. I had absolutely no need to be concerned however - Simon and the team at DB made my purchase one of the simplest and most convenient buying experiences I’ve ever had; from detailed video tours of the car, all the way to personally delivering the car to me at home on a Sunday morning - making for a 400 mile round trip. Truly faultless service from start to finish, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon and the team at Daimler Benz. 10/10.
Check the warranty before buying. They don’t provide a warranty document showing what’s covered and how much per hour they’ll pay for labour if there’s a problem. Bear in mind most main dealers charge £200 per hour. Also they don’t have their own workshop so you’ll be left negotiating with a main dealer and a third party insurance company looking for reasons not to pay for the repairs - even though the car is technically still under warranty. Finally they’ll withhold your deposit if you decide to return a vehicle during the cooling off period. Avoid this company.
I bought a Mercedes E 220 from Simon and by far the best Dealership I have dealt with. Once I agreed to buy the car I was updated on progress and agreed a date & time to collect and everything was in place when I arrived. Well happy with the vehicle and I would highly recommend this garage and the way they do business. A pleasure to deal with.
I live in N Ireland and i was looking for a cls 220 for a while when i spotted my dream car on this website, i sent an email and Simon rang me within an hour. Fast forward bought the car flew to Luton were i met Simon was exactly the way it was explained, genuine car immaculate fueled up he set up my phone set the satnav for my long trip and away i went. I shouldnt even mention this but i had a small issue, got it sorted i rang Simon to explain what had happened and he said forward the bill and ive already got the money in the bank. This wasnt a big problem im just fussy, great company to deal with and would have no hesitation in recommending them in the future cheers Simon and Daimler Benz i love my car.
I have just bought a second hand car from Daimler Benz in Potton and I have to say the experience was second to none. I have been looking at several dealers over the past weeks and no one gave me the kind of attention I got there. Simon and Cal could not have been more helpful and were never pushy like so many salesmen. I would thoroughly recomend them to all.
