Very popular restaurant offering great food in this small town. Reservation is strongly recommended. We didn't make reservations, and they are fully booked, so they advised us to come back half hour later. No guarantee though. We tried again, and they really got a table for 2. Thanks! We ordered the fried scallops, fish & chips, 2 starters and 2 mocha. Mocha was nicely done. Fried scallops were soft and full of flavour. But their number 1 dish should be the mussels, which we didn't order due to large portion. Looks good from other nearby tables. Fish & chips was good too. Like it!
After a day-tour, a dinner at Cuchullin is a must! Of course, if you can find a table :- But we were lucky and waited only for 10-15 min we were there at ~17:50 - there’s such a huge demand, just imagine there are more than a million tourists that this small town has to accommodate in a year… anyway, try their fish as it’s local and fresh. And don’t miss the good wines or the delicious desserts, too. All our appreciation for the friendly staff.
Recommended by one of the local residents for its sea food we went to this place. Locals prefer this place over the other most popular seafood restaurant that pops out on google maps. Menu is very limited however good. Service is a tad slow however the air for the food is justified. Tried out some local brews and the staff were friendly. Restaurant has a good restroom and the whole place is kept clean. My favourite dish was the mussels and fish and chips. Will visit again.
Queued up for 45min for this restaurant and it was totally worth it. They don't take reservations and its first come first serve. We had the soup of the day potato and leek salmon, mussels and sticky toffee pudding as dessert. All dishes were great. Service was suberp and we had a great time.
Yummy seafood restaurant! We got the soup of the day squash, the Manhattan chowder and the seafood platter which came with mussels, scallops, salmon, potatoes and a light salad. Seafood platter portion was large so this was a little bit too much for 2 people. Next time I’d skip out on one of the soups. I loved the scallops and mussels the most!
We tried to get a table there without reservation, they said they were fully booked, I asked if I could have the table For that exactly moment 17:30h. We’re told we could get one table for 1 hour, but I had a feeling we were bothering them. So we got the table and I had to run to the bank to get cash, because it’s only cash accepted. The menu is very limited, just few options for seafood and 1 steak. So we ordered the salmon, fish & chips and a cheese platter. The food is really delicious, salmon was perfect cooked and the smashed potatoes with the cream sauce was delightful. Fish & chips were nothing special but the chips were very greasy. Service.. I guess it’s a main problem there, our drinks took a long time to come, the waitress seems to be all teens, not service oriented, and always rolling their eyes when you ask something. When the drinks came they were threw on our tables with certain violence. The cheese platter was delivered without small plates and fork and no napkins. In the end we had to ask a correction in our bill because they forgot the drinks. I guess the chef abilities has been shadowed by the bad service.
This place is totally the wait in line! The best scallops I have ever had in my life. We also got mussels which was very popular. The salmon melts in your mouth! Get it! Omg the toffee pudding- chef’s kiss. Mind blowing! Definitely must-do when you are in the area.
Fantastic place. The food was excellent, staff very friendly and a nice relaxed atmosphere inside. Queue outside goes down fairly quickly and the well worth the wait. Would highly recommend a visit here if ever in Portree
Amazing food. We arrived just before 17:30 and got a table as soon as they opened. We had a soup of the day, fish and chips, and salmon fillet and all of it was delicious. The food took a while to be served but was worth the wait.
Restaurant does not take reservations so we went to queue before opening time. Cosy place serving decent seafood dishes. Sticky toffee pudding was nice but there are restaurants nearby serving much nicer ones.
