I've been looking to apply to this university and it's only been one thing after another. I had to apply to this university through UCAS I don't know if this is something that all universities do. There's a section in the online application that asks me to give the name and contact details of someone who could provide a reference. I couldn't complete this part because I haven't been a student since 2018, so I don't even know if any of my former teachers still work for my school or college. I can't provide anyone from work due to the company's data protection policy. I tried speaking to the university in person about my predicament, and they said my workplace could overlook the policy since they're only asking them to provide a reference for me. I told them that I couldn't provide the work email address or phone number because this breaches data protection on the company's behalf, and people have been dismissed for giving out this information in the past. They still didn't offer me any sort of solution to my problem. There's another section of my application asking for previous qualifications and it'll tally up UCAS points. When I was filling out this section, I only had to provide anything equivalent to an A Level or BTEC qualification. I received an email from the admissions team assuming that I'm still waiting for results as I didn't give them my GCSE results in maths and English because I didn't know they needed them. I tried popping into the university myself so they could scan all of my certificates in person. It turns out they don't even have an admissions department on campus to help me. The lady working the front desk told me there's a chance that the course that I've applied for might not even run anyway because she doesn't have any applicants on the system. I applied to study Law and Practice with a foundation year. I couldn't jump straight into the degree as I haven't studied anything related to this previously. It feels like a lot of hassle for a university.
Really lovely staff and a beautiful building! Worth a visit if you are considering higher education!
I had a terrible experience with Coventry University’s Dagenham campus. They are quick to collect tuition fees, but once payment is made, their concern for students seems to disappear. Several students, including myself, were accused of non-attendance despite having valid proof and reasons, and were reported to immigration authorities without proper investigation or warning.nnIt feels like their main interest is collecting fees rather than providing quality education or supporting international students. There is little to no communication or transparency from the admin team. Many students are left stressed, uncertain, and ultimately deported unfairly.nnThis treatment is unacceptable and unethical. I do not recommend this university, especially for international students who expect support and fairness.
As a British home student, this university feels more like it's located in New Delhi than the UK. 99% of the student here are international students, and I often found myself questioning whether I was even in the right country. This place barely resembles what a university should be. From the moment you enter, the smell of curry hits you, and most students don't even speak English fluently. There are no proper facilities, no clubs, and no societies. The experience is limited to going to outdated classrooms that feel like primary school and visiting the canteen, where the food is subpar, overpriced, and offers no variety.nnThis place does not feel like a university at all. There is nothing to do besides sit in the canteen or attend classes. There are no sports, extracurricular activities, or meaningful student life. I absolutely do not recommend this place, especially to home students. The only minor positives are that some courses don’t have exams and a handful of teachers are decent. However, these small pros are nowhere near enough to compensate for the lackluster experience.nnThe years I spent at this university will go down as some of the worst in my life. I deeply regret giving up the chance to have a proper university experience, only to spend it in this environment. If you're an international student looking for a real university experience, avoid this place. And if you’re a UK student, don’t make the same mistake I did. I regret it more than I can express.
