The table was booked a few days in advance. Arrived slightly earlier. Was seated in the conservatory area. It was Thursday and quiet. Service was good and staff very friendly. Meals were fresh and served promptly. Tasted fantastic. Will return. Nearby activities: Crazy golf. Charter fishing. Costal walks Walkability: Parking all around Portpatrick. All within walking distance of the Crown Food & drinks: Large selection of fish dishes.
I can't comment on the accommodation. This is a convivial place to visit, in our case out of season in early February. Quite a traditional pub with a good pub food menu and a warming open fire. Expensive but very nice. We'll definitely come back and try the famous seafood another time.Service: 4/5
We were on a bus trip and popped into the Crown. Was so impressed by the friendliness of the staff who were really lovely. We had wine but noed that the Crown cocktails were really reasonable. We also had chips and they were delicious. Big thumbs up to the Crow HotelService: 5/5
We visit for food three or four times a year and the food is always good. I had steak which was excellent and my husband had braised beef which was also excellent... However the vegetables which accompanied it were not too good, the eyes had not been removed from the potatoes and the carrots... The only other vegetables were hard and tasteless. The service as always was excellent and we were in the back room, as the bar was full. This part of the hotel along with the toilets needs a good refresh and better lighting. Food & drinks: The food was on the expensive side, for what we had... The poor vegetables and the tired decor are letting it down...
Staff where very friendly on arrival, hotel has a lovely setting right on the sea front our room was nice and clean, food was perfectly cooked and very tasty, entertainment was brilliant on Friday and a great crowd was in from Glasgow. Would recommend a stay and a visit is worth the drive. Rooms: Nice size clean and fresh Food & drinks: Food in the crown was perfect and reasonably priced.
Gave it three because the pub has good atmosphere. Food is overpriced and not even close to worth it. Second time here recently and they’ve managed to over cook a steak and re fry or burn chips. The place is trading off it’s previous success and needs a complete overhaul of its menusimplify it. Won’t be back for food. Sorry.
Benn there plenty of times for food only and we live 20 minutes away. Always excellent. Service with a smile and a great atmosphere, especially in the bar area or outside, with the views and ocassional entertainment.
Fabulous food and a friendly warm welcome. Lovely atmosphere and position on the seafront. Will be booking to stay here soon. We were visiting and popped in and were rewarded with a great meal and good ales. Very dog friendly. Lovely afternoon.
Enjoyed another brilliant weekend in this fabulous place. Hospitality is excellent hosts Tony and Craig wonderful as always, food superb and looking forward to next year already. Noteworthy details: Rooms overlooking the harbour are the best
Review based solely on the food. The soup of the day was over salted and not very good. The burger was of low quality and tasteless and the chips needed to be cooked longer as some where still solid. Should have known it would be poor as you pay before you eat. Food & drinks: Poor quality produce used.
