The crown is one of rydes older venues and is still going. In prime location in ryde. The center of excellence. Great service and food at reasonable prices. The rooms are dated. But cheap and on the heart. Good for beer, music, sports and many a good lock ins....Rooms: 3/5
Hasn't changed in years still the same layout and staff are very polite and security staff are really helpful and friendly :
Stayed here for 3 nights during the scooter rally. Couldn’t fault the hotel at all. Nice clean room, good location and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall it was great value for the money. I’m already planning return visits!
Just back from a fabulous 7day stay at this excellent hotel / pub, where the staff and management / owners are really friendly and kind who make you feel so welcome when you walk in the door. Great location with the beach a 5 minute walk away, excellent eateries all around the hotel. There has been a new bus station built where you can jump on a bus to take you to any part of the Island to explore what it has. I Would recommend the crown 100% to anyone. Locals nice and friendly as well. Great sports coverage daily covering all aspects and sports channels. If you ever visit the island especially Ryde give the Crown a visit you will not be disappointed. Thanks to all at the Crown for making me feel so welcome every time i visit the Island. Look forward to seeing you all again soon. Rooms: Very comfortable. Nicely decorated. Tv's tea and coffeee in every room. Nearby activities: Beach and pier front only 10 minute walk away. Walkability: There are plenty of eateries within 5 minute walk Food & drinks: There is a drink promo every day in the bar Noteworthy details: excellent location in the middle of the town.
So I stayed here on a Saturday night with my 2 children, I was quite disappointed, it said the pub shut at 12.30, it was literally 2am when they finally turned off there music the floor was literally shaking and we never thought we would need ear plugs, it's definitely not for a family with young children. But for adults staying there it's ok Rooms: Nicely decorated
Bar Only. As a day visitor to the Island I popped in for a swift drink. It does look a little dated but the round bar and the hive of activity I saw putting up Halloween decorations overrode this. I was served by the manager who was friendly and generous. I would certainly return for a few more drinks some day. When the weather is good or bad, ideal for people watching on the busy streets outside too.
If you want a nice room to stay in, then don't visit here. There are many hazards within the room, such as the floor. Fire doors did not shut fully. It is a very busy pub for locals, so there is noise all evening. Don't expect to get an early night's sleep. Some of the locals can be intimidating also. Location is good, but the stay was not pleasant, especially with kids. But, the staff member who greeted us was very pleasant and helpful.
Some staff just ignore you and serve their obvious aquantancies first , not goodService: 1/5
Only stayed 1 night. The service was really friendly, information about stay was a little sparse. The location is central for town...which upside everything is there downside the traffic noise is immense...we stayed during hot weather which didn't help. Room was fine..bathroom dated but clean..bar downstairs is open till 12 so if it's a quiet stay you're looking for this may not be the place for you.
The only good thing is the very central location, anything else was awful. I think I’ve got the best room and it was still outdated, smelly, and noisy. The bathroom was out from the 70s with just the electric shower working properly thank god, not very clean and foul smell coming from pipes. The window single glazed and opening on the main road just above the entrance of the pub, from where the rowdy crowd shouted all night every night. The worst was a Saturday when the pub hosted a party with a dj and frankly horrible, absurdly loud music till 2 in the morning. A good place to stay if you’re teenager and want to spend a tenner per night instead of a tent but definitely not worth 60quid per night. I’ll not coming back, sorry.
