Propa decent cafe! All I wanted was a decent sandwich and that's exactly what I got. Staff are really friendly and helpful offering you whatever you want , double check in that exactly what you want. A proper decent selection of sandwich fillings I went for the old school chicken and sweet corn which you honestly couldn't fault I've got a large bap and it was enough for me lunch. I'm glad I came here and didn't go into one of the chains because there is a absolutely every chain imaginable nearby. The place is immaculate toilets are immaculate the basement downstairs is very clean honestly couldn't fault this place real nice place to be on the strand very family orientated fresh ingredients really nice very clean very nice atmosphere a fraction of what you'd pay for lunch anywhere else around here if you was to be on the strand. Approx about £8 for bap and coffee. So probably a little bit more if you was going to have one of the fancy paninis which they've got an offer they looked very nice I just wanted to go old school.
Great place for a quick bite or a coffee. The 5 stars for the atmosphere is because it’s unpretentious and clean, not because it’s elegant or fancy. I struck up a conversation with the owner and commented he’s the hardest working man I know: I picked up breakfast at 6:30am and saw him still working the grill at 7:15pm. They’re open everyday and he says he’s been in the same location 26 years - amazing. The food is made fresh so you may wait a little. The portions are generous and everything is very fresh.
Great service, food and prices. To call this a ‘traditional greasy spoon’ does it a diservice, but you get the picture. Try the Pastel de NataFood: 5/5
No wonder this place has such high ratings. We went here on a busy Saturday as my parents rave about the good service & amazing food as well as the generous portions. The manager was incredibly friendly & warm. The portions are some of the most generous I’ve ever come across esp in London it’s a great find with delicious food and coffee. Go!
Hidden gem compared to the chains around it. If you are not looking for a three course meal then this is an ideal place to go. Very friendly staff that are welcoming when you walk in. Good value for the potion sizes and quality. Would come back next time I’m in London.
Great to see a family run business in the middle of all the multi nationals. Only had tea and cake, which was great. Sandwiches and meals looked great and well priced. Very friendly and tentative staff, will defo visit again when in the area.Food: 5/5

Crown - Café Português has a fabulous location, nestled between Somerset House and One Aldwych, making it a convenient stop for anyone exploring the area. What surprised me most was the very affordable pricing for such a prime spot in central London. However, the food quality was reflective of its low price point, and unfortunately, it left much to be desired. I opted for the cooked breakfast, consisting of two eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast. While the eggs were nicely done, the rest of the meal fell short. The bacon was lukewarm and undercooked, leaving the fat unpleasantly unrendered. Worse still, the sausage was ice-cold, which really put a damper on the experience. On the brighter side, the coffee was decent, but at £4 for a black Americano, I expected a bit more in terms of quality. It wasn't terrible, just not quite worth the price tag. The service was pleasant and friendly, which is a plus, but overall, the quality of the food was disappointing. In conclusion, while Crown - Café Português is incredibly affordable given the fantastic location, the lackluster quality of the food makes it hard to recommend for anything beyond a quick stop for coffee.
Jacket potato cheese & beans £7.80 not worth it for the quality of food presented, tourist trap or not, however the cafe was very clean.Food: 2/5
Such a nice little cafe situated opposite the lyceum theatre. Perfect for watching the world go by! Super friendly staff great paninis and coffee! And independently run too would reccomend hereFood: 5/5
