What a find! We turned up and lucked in and got a table straight away, but I would definitely recommend booking in advance, especially for bigger groups, as this is obviously a very popular place. Service was great with very friendly efficient staff and the food was amazing! The no crust rarebit pie and beetroot & avocado 'scotch egg' was superb and the beef, mushroom & ale pie is probably the best I've ever tasted! As was the Japanese pork curry that my wife ordered. We loved it so much we booked to go back next week, before returning home from our New Year holiday. The Cross Foxes will be going on our places to return to on any future visits to Mid/North west Wales.
After travelling to mid- wales, we stopped here for something to eat before going back to Criccieth. We had a lovely evening, sitting if front of the fire. The food was great, very good actually. all the staff were very very friendly, it nice that they were speaking welsh. And It was handy that it's a dog friend atmosphere. We will definitely be coming there again, beautiful place and beautiful staff.
it's a nice and cozy place with great service. the waiters are very nice and smiling. But the food didn't really impress me. The soup was very spicy, although it was not indicated on the menu. My mom can't eat spicy, no one specified, and I had to eat her soup. the butter was homemade and very tasty. I think someone who is not very spoiled for food will like him.
I asked to swap the beefburger and put halloumi and pineapple as the filling instead, due to a severe lack of veggie options in the mains menu. The staff were really helpful and did this no issues at all. The menu does need to have at least 3 veggie options on, and a couple of vegan to cater for everyone, and in this day and age it should be without question. Easy to park outside, friendly helpful staff, would recommend to others. Hopefully the menu will expand and more inclusive of plant based meals. Vegetarian options: Good variety in the starters. Very poor in the mains. If you are vegan i would avoid this place unless they change the menu and introduce a decent list of vegan and veg choices.
Have been here many times. This time with new dog, and we were very welcome with her. Nice accessibility aswell. Friendly cheerful staff, lovely food and a well stocked bar. It's in the middle of so many lovely places when having a break, too. Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled parking space. Can go round back for level entry. Accessible toilet. All good
I can't comment on the rooms as I haven't stayed. But I would definitely recommend the food and the service. We had tge rustic hot beef roll with chips gravy and coleslaw. I can honestly say I have never had a more delicious piece of beef. A huge, tender , juicy thick slice with the tastiest gravy. Highly recommend. But very popular so book ahead, we didn't but the helpful, friendly staff found us a small table. Will definitely bd going back!
Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Very cozy comfortable. Excellent service and food was amazing. Great price to. Dogs also allowed in. Was easy to find. Staff superb.
Welcome started well and the views are amazing like the rest of Wales. The drinks came quick but then after we ordered the food it went down hill. The food took ages to come with no apologies until after we left or any reason given. The barmaid who was rude / waitress who helped distribute the food could not understand that two burgers were not the same. We ordered two beast burgers with different toppings but were told they were both the same which they were not. We sorted that out for ourselves as one burger had bacon and one didn't, even the waitress who took the order didn't understand. How hard can it be, two burgers with different toppings equals they are not the same burgers. On top of that the chips were more like roast potatoes and dry, the burger had no sauce in it. I had to ask twice for Mayo as the meals were that try and was given a small pot which looked like a childs portion. The meal overall for everyone was dry but we only ate it as it had been a long drive and were hungry. The total cost was over £70 no alcohol drinks, and to add insult to injury was told you HAVE to pay a service fee of a minimum 10% of the total bill which we were not told when we booked and sat down at the table. I for one will not return and will highly recomend looking else where for future meals.
Lovely staff, really helpful and friendly Looked lovely and clean. Decorated really nice. Hot chocolate was AMAZING but the cake wasn't particularly goodFood: 2/5
This was booked last minute, as per the attractive website, and beautiful location, but unfortunately, the overall experience, was substandard. We were greeted with a friendly welcome, shown to an attractive and clean looking dining room, and we ordered drinks, which came rather fast. After we ordered our food, it took over 45 minutes to arrive, despite not being very busy. When it did arrive, it was disappointing, especially for the extortionate pricing, and the waitress that greeted us didn't seem to know the difference between a normal burger, and one with three additional toppings. All of the four dishes ordered were terribly dry, and the chips were as large as roast potatoes. We are the majority as we were famished. As we went to pay, we also were expected to pay a 10% service charge, which was ridiculous, especially considering how slow the service was with the dry food. It's a shame as the location is great, but unfortunately, we won't return.
