We did our courting here 35 years ago and although we moved to Dorset, we always pop off the M3 motorway at Hook to have lunch here before proceeding on our journey. In winter there is a lovely log-fire, a good choice of real ales and good home-cooking on the menu. In summer we use the beer-garden next to the river and have never had a disappointing meal over the years. Friendly staff, satisfying food and a good choice of drinks - In short, a perfect refreshing break on a journey.
6 of us had a lovely lunch here last week. Staff really friendly. Food very good & we all had different. Only negative to me was that it was cold in the pub. There was an open fire but was not sufficient for such a big pub & we did have 2 over 90's with us. I did state this when I booked & was told we'd be put in a warm corner.
We are regular visitors... Log fire. Good beer. Attentive staff. Will definitely be visiting again soon...

So glad we traveled further away from the chain pubs near the M25. This little gem was amazing! Great food and real ales casque mark and Camra. Fantastic garden by a small river. Kids play area is small but kept kids busy while we waited.
Lovely Real ale by the Fire, nice lunch and thank you for the carrot for our little Louis the dog...Friendly service.

Good Covid19 protocols in place. Lovely pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord in the pretty waterside garden. Ideal lunch stop after a walk round the new SANG but we didnt eat here today. Someone has green fingers as all the pots & gardens are glorious.
Lovely Sunday lunch Good service, reasonably priced and choice of meats, beef chicken and lamb. beautiful setting went across the rd and walked along the stream. Must book as very popular 10/10
