About

http://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/
The Crafts Council wants to make the UK the best place to make, see, collect and learn about contemporary craft.

Mission

Our goal:

• To make the UK the best place to make, see, collect and learn about contemporary craft

Our aims:

• To build a strong economy and infrastructure for contemporary craft
• To increase and diversify the audience for contemporary craft
• To champion high quality contemporary craft practice nationally and internationally

Our values:

• We believe that craft plays a dynamic and vigorous role in the UK’s social, economic and cultural life.

• We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to make, see, collect and learn about craft.

• We believe that the strength of craft lies in its use of traditional and contemporary techniques, ideas and materials to make extraordinary new work.

• We believe that the future of craft lies in nurturing talent; children and young people must be able to learn about craft at school and have access to excellent teaching throughout their education.

The Crafts Council is funded by Arts Council England and earns income from event fees, ticket sales, exhibition loan fees and magazine and catalogue advertising and sales. In addition, it raises income from sponsors, individuals and charitable trusts and foundations.

Great location for an art exhibition. Very spacious inside and it's close to the city. Came here for fedrigoni design exhibition loved it!
Great if you're walking by...Small exhibition area. Must admit I can't remember what it was like before all the refurbishment. It was difficult seeing all the items. Displayed more like a museum than a gallery. Very little information about the items on show... actually I walked away learning nothing. But will visit again, hopefully it will be better. Please remember, the general public needs information...not everyone knows what Egyptian paste is. It's about Crafts and Makers: Maybe if there was a list explaining the materials each item was made from in more detail, an explanation why the artist may have chosen those materials, maybe a little background information on why it was created, how was it made, what kind of techniques were used, what was the story and the inspiration behind the idea. At least a few of these would have been interesting. Extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for a great visit.
I was part of a showcase/exhibition here and it was a lovely experience. The set up was fabulous and everyone was so lovely.
Great place! Interesting and vibrant exhibitions. Lovely staff and wonderful free workshops for kids.
Really excellent exhibition on cotton here using videos and textiles and good explanations, lovely space too and interactive activity

Craft council collection inside. No photographs. Romanellis glass casting work is an excellent piece. Good staff there. Try a peep.
I had an excellent 1-2-1 meeting with a talent development manager at the Crafts Council who has helped me restructure my textile design business.
Great selection of activities and workshops for both kids and adults.
