We have been here a few times as its such a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere and we enjoy the live music too. Nice welcome and lovely staff. Nothing too much trouble. We are often at South Shields and love the views of the beach from here, it's right on the front. Great in the Summer too as has lovely outdoor seating area and music on. We have just had an amazing Sunday lunch on our last visit, lovely tender beef and all the trimmings and listened to Dean, who was a talented singer and guitarist, varied material. A great place. Will be back again soon.
The Sanddancer is in a great location on South Shields seafront. A lovely and interesting interior and exterior together with a good choice of food and drinks.. Also has great live bands playing regularly #TheSanddancer #Sanddancers
I had a lovely hour-or-so sat in the outdoor terrace in the sunshine, watching the world go by on the beach while eating a delicious breakfast. However, I was rather amused that the background music played Hark, the Herald Angels Sing on the 24th June!
Decided to take the dogs to the beach and find a dog friendly pub. The Sand dancer pub had signs outside, stating it was dog friendly, no restrictions were noted. We found a table, number 9 in fact, and sat down with the 2 dogs and a 3 year old child. Food ordered, even ordered 2 bowls of dog sausages gave the table number and waited for the food. Waiting staff passed us nothing said and the bar staff that took the order said nothing. On the arrival of the food the waitress said you can't sit here with the dogs you will have to move. The 3 year old already trying to dive into her food. The waitress looked for a replacement but the pub was full so we stayed where we were but this felt that we had to rush our food which was lovely. We did find a sign on the table hidden behind the salt and pepper when we got our food saying no dogs allowed but nothing else. We would of stayed for desert but didn't feel we could. Lovely pub, great food and good atmosphere but careful where you sit!
For £35, my friend and I ordered two original burgers as well as coffee. The coffee was very bitter, the burgers were barely edible. The meat was cheap and/or old, I've never tasted anything like it. We were offered complimentary drinks, but decided to leave. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
Me and my family came down for Sunday lunch after it being advertised all over social media. There was 9 of us in total as they were visiting but imagine how disappointed we were when Sunday lunch wasn’t being served that day. Made some excuse of it was an independent person running their social media. Ordered from the normal menu but this didn’t satisfy our hunt for a good roast. False advertisement, do better.
Loved it. Nice warm seat with weather bit inclement. Had lovely sharer meal, mussels nachos fries and battered prawns. Reasonable price. Also had a pint of mangolicious ale. Superb
Brilliant food. Fantastic staff nothing was to much trouble. Even offered our dog water and treats. We ate 3 times here while on holiday. Fully recommend it.
A lovely place for breakfast by the sea! Whatever the weather outside, with a great view of the rolling waves, this is a warm and welcoming place for an early morning coffee pit stop, or to grab a tasty breakfast with friends.
Nice pub good food. Staff friendly and dogs allowed in here.
