We planned a dinner here with friends from far and wide and I stayed over. We couldn’t have had a better time. Food, drink and service was excellent, the room was very comfortable but most notably, we were made so welcome. We enjoyed chatting with staff, who are clearly all good friends and work as a great team, and had a relaxed departure after a superb breakfast, coffee and time to recover after the night before. The location is lovely too. Highly recommended.
Went for a Sunday roast while staying nearby for a week and thoroughly impressed. Service, setting, ethos and food was superb. Michelin stars were given to places worth driving to, and this is definitely worth going out of your way for, hopefully not too long until it’s rewarded with a star or two.
Extremely good. We booked for a mid-week lunch and it was a cut-above - well presented food; knowledgeable, friendly staff; and very comfortable dining. Starter choices were wood pigeon and also scallops; mains were venison and also chicken breasts; and for desserts we had the affogato and cheese board. Portions were well judged to allow us to enjoy all three courses. Would definitely go again and would very much recommend.
We had our wedding reception at The Cotley. My husband and I stayed in The Holt room afterwards. It was a beautiful experience. From the staff, to the meal, to the room - everything was so lovely. It was truly an amazing night, and will be cherished memories of our day. Can’t thank the team enough for all their effort and kindness. Meg & Jack
Gorgeous location, a rural idyll with pleasant walks for you and your dog. The two dog friendly rooms are spacious and well appointed and Mandy loved the roll top bath. The standard of cooking and presentation of the evening meal was utterly breathtaking from delicious starters to fantastic mains. The only fly in the ointment was breakfast the following morning-what a letdown after the previous night! No full english with all the trimmings, but an inefficient egg boiler, a four slice toaster, some cereals and cheese and prosciutto. Opinions are of course subjective but in my opinion a proper breakfast would have made the stay perfect
What a find. On holiday in the area and looking for a country pub to have lunch. This popped up. We had a lovely lunch. Gluten free food was a bonus, as nearly everything in the menu had a GF option. Lovely bar staff too. We highly recommend the cotley arms.
Warm welcome . Fire . Great variety of options on the menu. Good choice of local brews and wines. Perfect for lunch with friends ...oh and very nice to our little dog
Lovely cozy pub. We went for a family get together and all had very nice Sunday roasts. The staff were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Beautiful food with good portions in a stunning location. Lovely walks nearby in the summer but a very cosy pub to retreat to in bad weather. Friendly service and a proper pub vibe.Service: 5/5
2nd time at the Cotley Inn, this time for Sunday Lunch. Unfortunately not as good as my first visit. Starter was decent but main and dessert were a let down. The roast beef was over, only about half of each slice was medium, the rest was over unfortunately, dry and tough. Roasties looked great but not a lot of flavour and lacked seasoning. Rest of the veg was fine. The dessert, a rhubarb and custard trifle, was the biggest disappointment. The bottom two layers custard and jelly were just way too set, becoming difficult to eat. Flavour was decent but at this level and price you have to get a trifle right. Service was good with friendly staff. Perhaps I'll try again in case it was just an off day.
