So long as you're just interested in a short climb to take in some great panoramic views of the area, this is a brilliant trip out for the casual walker who doesn't mind a hill. Ideal for someone who just wants to get outdoors but without it taking a full day of hiking to get there. Make your way up to the top from Corbar road up through Corbar woods and if you want you can carry on in a north easterly direction across the hills to bring you down at the lightwood reservoir area and come back via lightwood road to make it a short circular route. Not for people who are expecting a cafe at the top or anything like that but a great place to take your own picnic in the summer months.
Steep but accessible walk from road ... 20 mins ... Great viewsVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing views from the top! But it’s quite a steep trek up to the top and the ground can be quite unsteady otherwise we’ll worth the walk!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Most of the walk up here is friendly but there was one more steep part which could tire folk out. It is really great to go at sunset or raise to get an impressive view.
After a short steepish climb through Corbar Woods you get fantastic views of Buxton and the surrounding area. Well worth the effort of the climb at any time of the day and year.
Beautiful walk upto the top overlooking Buxton. Corbar cross overseas the whole town looking further into the high peak.
Good views across Buxton & beyond & a lovely walk up through the woodland. But the cross itself is a bit of an anticlimax. Not even a tiny plaque, let alone an information board about it or what you can see.
Beautiful place for a short and effective woodland stroll....
Lovely little walk for great views.
Lovely walk through the woods up to the cross and back, ideal for a short stroll.
