We needed to buy a set of pots and pans after changing our hob. We went to Cookmate as we like the idea of an independent local shop being supported by the locals. The staff were very helpful and understood what we needed with our new flex induction hob, they showed us what we needed and looked past their stock to find sets they didn't have on show to make sure we got the best package available. We waited 2 days for the boxed set to arrive and are extremely happy with our experience. Thanks to all at Cookmate. Colin Taylor

Potentially, a lovely independent shop, ruined mainly by snooty and supercilious staff. On entering, a slightly patronising A-board declared the message 'Did you know, we're the only independent cookware shop in Worcester?' I didn't know, and I was filled with enthusiasm to sample the delights of an independently run, local cookware store. I had visions of friendly, helpful staff, going the extra mile to ensure each customer receives excellent customer service, treating each individual with a friendly, helpful attitude. This benefits the shop, as it encourages repeat custom, but also allows them to fairly charge a higher percentage on goods than a big retailer. I was looking particularly for a cold press juicer. Having heard about the health benefits of juicing over smoothie making for the last few years, I was sure the local independent cookware shop would be more knowledgable than me, and if they didn't sell them, they could help point me in the right direction. I couldn't have been more wrong. After browsing for a good ten minutes, an elderly assistant asked if I needed any help. (This lady turned out to be the only employee actually using some good initiative and customer service skills) After acknowledging she didn't know anything about mechanical juicers, I was referred to the front till, this is where the really bad customer service took place. The woman at the till, (possibly in her 60's, wearing nikes) stood arms crossed, and leaning nonchalantly against the wall, pronounced, "we've only got those plastic ones over there, or we've got ones in the book, but nothing cheap" I actually laughed in amazement at how rude this assistant so Blatantly was. I remained professional nevertheless and asked to see what they could order in from their 'book' I think turning the pages to find the juicers was a bit too much hard work for her, because as soon as she got to the relevant section, she pushed the catalogue toward me to signal that she was done helping. I politely encouraged her to help decipher the different features of the juicers on offer, knowing fully that she didn't have a clue and also (mainly) couldn't be bothered. All in all, not the friendly independent retailer experience I had hoped for. I hope management see's this and is encouraged to look into the individual and how negatively she might be impacting profits.

They have pretty much everything you might need in your kitchen, though it comes at a price - premium goods though.

If they don't have it, you probably don't need it in your kitchen! From.a tin opener to a full dinner service and everything in between.
