Best fish and chips in town. Beautiful fresh fish with light batter. Freshly cooked chips that are crispy not soggy. Portions are very generous can definitely share a portion of chips.nThe batter on both the scampi and the sausage are light, not heavy and not at all greasy.nThere is a takeaway attached to the restaurant serving the same classics, same quality and taste.nPerfect for a summers day or a cold winters night.

We are regulars at Colman's on Ocean Road, South Shields. It's our go-to place for take away fish and chips. The Lighter Choice Cod and Chips is a perfect portion and good value. We travel from Washington, just about every week, for our fish and chips
Best fish supper in the UK. Cooked to perfection, not a bit of grease in sight. Been coming here for years even though it’s 35 miles from home. Photos on wall of customers; Patrick Stewart, Jo Brand, David Walliams and even David Milliband and Tony Blair all out for a great cheap feed.
My first experience at Coleman's went really well.nnThe staff were all great, the place was busy and cosy.nnThe fish are caught daily so you cannot ask for fresher!nnThe downside was the cost. Just a bit too pricey for me. 2 fish and chips with peas and 2 cans of pop - £40.90.nnFood was good though. Especially the mushy peas.
