Most honest and trustworthy mechanic I have met. Very knowledgeable - sorted my Audi issue cheaply and quickly, other garages were quoting me for expensive repairs which were not necessary. 5/5.

Took our aged (2004) golf fsi in to Colin following a overheating issue, booked the car in and then the garage appeared closed for 5 days when we re-engaged I was told that this was due to the bad weather and the fact he lived in Lincolnshire. After diagnosis the thermostat and an electric fan were changed. All good I thought. After we got home I immediately noticed a coolant leak, told Colin who advised it was not connected with any work he had done, (he diagnosed this over the phone) he seemed to get moody when I asked if he would perform a pressure test to surface all leaks A new hose was ordered and fitted, and car was collected. Again, two days later a coolant leak, tool the car was booked in, again seemed to take exception to being asked if he would pressure test. Received a phone call, saying that he worked on his own and "did not like working on the FSI cars" as everything was hidden, diagnosed that the leak was from the gearbox side of the car and nothing to do with the work he had done. He further added that I should take the car to another garage as he was only one man on his own and did not like the FSI cars. I thanked Colin for his honesty, collected the car and decided to share my experience with the web. In summary he is one man on his own, a tad grumpy, defensive and takes exception with the questions relating to pressure testing. Colin appears to have never passed a customer service skills course. His mechanic skills seem ok but I definitely got the impression that he is not happy with his commute, or his work.

Has looked after our cars for almost 10 years now. Honest, reliable and genuine. Highly recommend him.
