Terrible firm, do not use! Took over a year and still waiting to sort out a simple family will. Every time you ring u get fobbed off and told that it is getting sorted. No one returns calls and when you do speak to someone they have a complete lack of empathy or interest.
Same experience as everyone else giving one star. Poor communication, no return to calls or messages and documents been lost or mismanaged transfer of deeds, searches. We actually changed our house purchase around so we didn’t have to use them for the second part. Don’t usually write reviews but would provide heavy caution to anyone considering them for a house sale or purchase at the Billingham branch.
No good they haven’t registerd our house saying they went in charge at the time they are the biggest liars gong I have proof of the sale but they refuse to talk to us making us stand at the door i sent them a letter but they refuse to reply even though they are are lawyers they took the money for land deals my advice is to avoid them we are looking for another lawyer who is for us and not against us
Disappointed with Cochrane’s who I used for the conveyancing on sale of my house. I instructed them in May 2021, only completed in November 2021! Fortunately I wasn’t in a chain where I had to sell my house to fund another immediately, but I think they knew this and probably worked against me as they knew I ‘could wait’. I knew the buyers of my house so therefore knew exactly what was going on on both sides of the house sale throughout, when I knew the buyers were ready with their paperwork I was told Cochrane’s were still waiting. Generally sounded like excuse emails whenever I chased up. The buyers mortgage was complete in July, I kept chasing this stage of sale as knew they were ready, this went on until September when I was told the paperwork had gone into Cochrane’s junk email folder ‍‍ it’s 2021 who doesn’t check their junk folder? To be fair after this Dawn did respond quickly to all my emails and enquiries, she was probably sick of me contacting her every other day. Unfortunately I think this is the only tactic to push through whatever you require that probably goes for many law firms!. I understand Cochrane’s have had some staff turn over during 2021 along with Covid issues, but come on if you can’t run your business professionally then seek help or step away. I would suspect that the Management is not up to requirements.
I used Cochranes when purchasing my house. Me and my ex signed all appropriate paperwork that if we ever split, we would both receive halve however Cochranes then represented my ex and refused to follow their own contractual agreement. SCAMMERS
Very limited disabled access to private rooms ,they could not accommodate our wheelchair so suggested conducting business in the reception area ,not acceptable.Receptionist and solicitor condescending and disinterested.
Used Cochranes a few times, excellent service! Spoke with both Jim and Kirsty - so friendly, reliable and professional. Can't recommend them enough! Thank you.
Only a small task but very helpful and it was carried quickly and efficiently. We will definitely be using them for future ventures as opposed to some other local solicitors we have used.
