"Please see our website for visitor information including opening hours. At The New Forest Reptile Centre we help protect rare snakes and lizards and encourage the re-introduction of these animals across the country. There are special outdoor ‘pods’ at the Centre which provide a natural home to the sand lizard, smooth snake and adder. These reptiles can be difficult to see in the wild as they are rare and very secretive, so the Reptile Centre is a great place to see them close-up.Open seasonally on certain days during school holidays."

Plays a really important role in preserving local wildlife. Interesting activities were on when we visited. We didn't see any of the species here - understandable, it's a conversation project, not a zoo. Worth a quick visit while in the area. Restrooms: There are toilets available here.
Lovely free attraction with free parking they suggest a small donation to get the kiddies out and about and give them something to search for in the Reptile houses. We spotted an adder!!! And considering it was cold and wet, we were well chuffed! Walks from the car park sign posted, toilets there too. Spent about half hour just at the Reptile Centre part.
Had a nice day out and a really nice walk on the trail. Nice to see some wildlife up close. Hopefully return in mid summer and see a bit more activity as was really hard to spot some of the frogs and lizards.
Local species for all to see as long as you have good eyesight Super helpful volunteers, pointing out the different reptiles and giving us the lowdown on the centre. Mapped out walk through parts of the forest, highlighted with areas of interest. And dog friendly which was a must for us as we're on a family holiday. All for the price of a donation!!
What a great place to see the reptiles from the UK! Lovely staff who are very knowledgeable and are very happy to fill you up with information. Loved seeing the adders and baby adders basking in the sunshine and the other snakes too. Very interesting learning the difference between a toad and a frog.
Really lovely place to go to pass time. Enjoyable for children as they get to try and spot all different reptiles. Free entry which makes it great and can give donations. Little shop on the site which also has some great knowledge on the reptiles. Staff friendly and happy to talk. Only problem is the car park - it's fairly small and is often nearly full but has been on weekends/bank holidays so it's understandable. Great place to visit if passing by.
Unfortunately by the nature of reptiles hiding, not too much to see. Saw frogs/toads and little snakes. Probably better for older children or those who are patient. Helpful and informative staff and volunteers. Parking a bit limited on busy days.
This is a small place I mean really small but you can actually see the rarely seen snakes, frogs, sloworms etc.... That usually you would very rarely see out in the forest. It's definitely worth a visit it's basically a number of pods covered with mesh in which of you look long and hard you can spot some of these fascinating creatures. There is also a small shed in which there is an exhibit on birds, some models and an interactive LCD screen. It's definitely worth a visit and it's in the forest so you could start there and walk Miles in any direction
Mon 25th July 2022 at 9.30am we arrived. The gate was open & the only sign we saw was asking people not to park on the verge. We were met with an old lady who barked at us rudely. She asked if we were parked in the car park & when I said yes she said you are not supposed to be here until 10.30am. If you want to come here you should walk from Minstead. You should read the signage properly! The signage she was referring to at the gate was blocked by another sign notifying people not to park on the verge. There are ways to talk to people. Her way was rude! Two other cars were parked there at the time & she was so rude to them they left immediately. It’s a shame as it’s such a nice place to go normally.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Child friendly. Free parking. Dogs welcome. Picnic benches. Very lovely little setting
